William Lai Ching-te was inaugurated as Taiwan’s new leader on May 20, 2024. In his first speech as president, Lai pledged to uphold the status quo in the Taiwan Strait, and called on Beijing to work jointly for peace. The head of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) won a narrow victory in the January elections. The island’s new president faces various challenges, including a divided society as well as strong opposition and pressure from mainland China, which views Lai as a separatist.

It's so disturbing to see politicians turn into street thugs in their own Parliment. I have the same impression when the South Korean politicians go after each other. Do they know the meaning of civility? Do they know how they look to the world?
  • “Taiwan” official names is still Republic of China, it’s in their constitution and on their passport

It is amusing how 'people' view Taiwan as the pinnacle of democracy without taking a look at her internal political problems

People always say Beijing/People's Republic of China sees Taiwan as part of China. The reverse is also true. Taipei/Republic of China sees the whole of the mainland as part of China.

Lai is not "a leader of Taiwan" but the president of the Republic of China. The Peiping administration must accept the fact that the Republic of China exists as a sovereign state.

Taiwan adalah propinsi dari China. Pemerintahan di Taiwan setaraf gubenur. Taiwan bukan negara, karena PBB cuma mengakui China satu satunya pemerintahan yg di akui dunia. Taiwan adalah bagian dari China.

Like Zelensky, Lai will take the country into the Abyss. Lai does not have the majority of the Taiwanese people on his side, and he is acting irresponsibly

In 3:16 as "Most countries, including the US, do not recognize Taiwan as an independent state." If the US 🇺🇸 does not recognize Taiwan as an independent state, then it should not sell weapons and never interfere in internal affair of Taiwan island that belongs to China. 🇨🇳 China wants Taiwanese island to reunite with it peacefully, but the US brings military access to Taiwan, making the political situation aggress

Why keep the status Quo? Didnt you win by promoting Taiwan independent to your people?
