Hi Buddies,
So you have a pet bird,
most parakeet owners will have difficulties with taming and making their birds trust them
OR taking them outside the cage
and sometimes even bringing them back into the cage without losing their bird's trust.

I've put my finger on my birds perch for a while now so that my birds can get use to my presence, now they don't fly to the other side of the cage and just hop away a little bit! I'll keep training my birds until there comfortable with me. It was really hard to do with really shy birds, but patience is key. Thank you Salvador!!
  • I let out my budgies even though they are not fully tamed. I donโ€™t chase them to get back into their cage, I let them fly around and chill in my room for as long as they want to. If they get hungry or they want to go back into their cage, they will fly in by themselves. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  • Hell yeah they recognise you and my bird even missed me! I went on holiday for 3 weeks and left them in care of one of my best friends and the moment they heard my voice in my friend's home they enthusiastically screamed for me๐Ÿฅฐ while they were silently enjoying themselves before they noticed I was in the house.

Alright one thing I wanna put out there- I used to have finches.Took really long for them to get used to me, but I still let them out of the cage before they were tame! They usually come back for food, it is very important to always to give your birds free time to fly. Tame or not.
  • Iโ€™m getting two budgies today! (One for me and one for my brother) but we were really nervous. Since we couldnโ€™t get separate cages, we werenโ€™t sure how to start. Thank you for explaining this so well! Your videos always help

birb is always gonna be a birb Edited: I have 2 budgies One bird will try to follow me in the cage sometimes and doesnโ€™t get scared when I feed the treat and preening it self when Iโ€™m nearby sometimes does that mean anything?
  • @FunkySun_.
Thanks for the video!! I actually just got my two parakeets today, they were exhausted once I got home so they're currently sleeping rn-. Thanks again, have a nice day.
  • I hope to use this to tame my 3 birds. I've had them since quarantine and they've been given away to 4+ houses! Ik they need time but I'm hoping with some work I can get them to finally trust me! ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Thank you for your very good and educative video! My pet canary birds go back to their cage mostly immediately when I ask them to. I have trained them to go back to cage since they were young by asking them to go back by saying to them "to cage", or "cage" or both by asking them "to cage" and showing by hand motion them to go to the cage. I think this method might also work for budgies, but it has to be taught to them when they are young. My canaries follow hand motion signs along with talked requests by me, which I use with them daily when communicating with them.
  • Im taming 5 birds at the same time and it works really well actuallyโ€ฆ my birds learn from each other and I think that itโ€™s very easy that way
  • @artwolf5447
Iโ€™ve trained 3 budgies now that where all aviary raised and I never kept them inside their cages till they were tame. I used the method that you showed by putting millet in the cage and then I would step away so the birds could fly in without fearing me. It worked every time. Now my budgies are tame and have learned recall but if your budgie isnโ€™t tame you can use this method. Donโ€™t keep the poor little bird confined in a tiny cage until it have learned to trust you. You can do a lot of off hands training till the bird gets comfortable around you
  • I just let my birb roam free and she is tame out of herself. It took 6 months but she loves me very much and I love her very much. She does bite my fingers when I move to fast but other than that. She is fine! Take your time and talk to your pet.
