"You have to provide bullets and artillery rounds, but smart weapons are. That's where the game changer is genuinely provided by the West."

Ukraine could "find a different way of fighting the war" as US missiles and British boats sent to Ukraine will enhance their capability to strike Crimea, says retired Air Vice-Marshal Sean Bell.

In both Junior High and High School, we had two different bullies always picking on the weak. At first, I observed a minor incident but when bully #1 threw a mentally handicapped boy to the gym floor intentionally, I challenged him. Then he lunged at me. I knocked him flatly on the floor. No more harassment of the weak. All the bullying stopped. Same with bully 2. Sometimes you have to make a stand and do the right thing to protect the weak. It’s no different with Putin & Russians. NATO should provide support troops and free up UA soldiers to fight on the front line. Russia knows if they use nukes, they can expect the same. Most politicians never took on the bully in a school yard so they just don’t get it. And there is no guarantee Russia may not strike first regardless as they want us not to interfere. The bully does not want to be challenged. Stand tall!
  • Sean Bell & Michael Clarke are legends for their summarising of strategic & tactical events that anyone with a modicum of interest can follow. This conflict is literally the reverse, east to west version of pre WW2 with the appeasement danger so very obvious.
  • General Ben Hodges has been stating this since the start of the war
  • Stop telling Russia what we are going to be sending, if they dont know they cant be ready ??

The Kerch bridge is long. Must be pretty difficult to defend all of it
  • Hes right, this could have been a much shorter conflict, had nato stepped in and declared a no fly zone over Ukraine a month after the invasion started, i say month because thats when it became very clear that Russia wasnt gonna walk over Ukraine

Absolutely agree: no bully can be stopped by begging! We have to stand united against terror!
  • Well said, its time NATO and the western world should step up 100% not the piddly effort at the moment

There's ANOTHER , smaller, warm-water port ! That's where the fleet has retreated to FGS .

Remember Mockingbird? It didn't go away!
  • Now we get to find out how many Russians are willing to die trying to keep it.

Only warm water port? Novorossiysk is only 200 miles away and is where the Black Sea fleet is currently based.
  • I believe Mr Bell has summed up the question on a broader war quite appropriately.

ATACMS were thought to be useful in hitting Russian supply depots supplying its military operations. Now that these offensive weapons are being made available that might be a better option m.
  • Thanks Sean bell. This was very interesting and in plain English what can be done with this horrible war.

@Times Radio, please sort out the audio prior to upload in the future, my laptop was on full pelt and i was struggling to hear your presenter, Mr Bell was a bit better, its not hard to increase the db gain, you could level both sides if a bit of time was taken, thank you.
