Freda stole this 7 year old boy's heart performing this song on Soul Train in 71. Soul Train was so important!
  • I remember this song was huge back in the day. Another one like it was: "When will I see you again" by The Three Degrees.
  • Freda Payne is definitely one of the great Detroit singers of the early 1970's, She's a gorgeous woman and a beautiful singer to match.

Finally! Feda Payne was the bomb back in the day. Loved this song and it was all over the radio back in the day.

Amber...your eyes look gorgeous. TY for Freda Payne. Always liked this song. From 1971.
  • @euronick61
This reached number 1 here in the UK in 1970

This song never gets old. I remember singing this on the bus on our way to Summer Camp when I was going into 7th grade. EVERYONE knew this song.
  • We lost an amazing singer named Angela Bofill a couple of weeks ago. She was 70, and her style was a cross between jazz and pop. Her voice was heavenly. "I Try", "This Time I'll Be Sweeter", and "Under the Moon and Over the Sky" are some of her best songs. RIP Angela Bofill.🌹

Wow, as a child of 65 I read the song title and thought that sounds familiar but I couldn’t remember a note of it. Then as soon as the bass started it all came back. Thanks for reminding me of this great song and cheers to whoever requested it. Love you guys

My younger sister bought this album when we were in H.S. She’s gone now, and this brings back memories💔

FINALLY! Freda Payne is so undernoticed but so multi-talented to this day! She is also a wonderful person to meet. Her catalog is as extensive as the genres she covers. Try Bring The Boys Home, You, I Hear Rumors, etc. for starters. ✌️😁❤️🎶🎶🎶👍

I love how far the two of you have come. Amber came on the scene and taught Jay how to appreciate REAL music. At that point, Jay had only loved rap and didn't know how to Listen to music. Jay's ear had no sophistication because it had lacked listening to melodies. Amber lead him by the hand and made him actually listen to the music. Jay, on the other hand, gave Amber confidence. When Amber first showed up on the channel, she was kind of shy. Amber didn't know if people would accept her opinions of the music. Jay took her hand and made her learn that her opinion counts, especially to him. This is now The Jay and Amber show and they each are fully credited for their half of the show. Neither could carry the show alone. "Sniff, sniff...I'm not crying! YOU'RE crying! It gets you right in the heart when they are all grown up."

I haven't heard this song in years, and yet I still know every word.
  • @IBLRG
Hello from England 👋 Brilliant song from the 70s
  • @harpergras
Her other great song is " Bring The Boys Home ". She's always been a very classy lady.
  • @eileen742
I was 17 when this was released and had just broken up with a boyfriend. I listened to this on repeat and cried my eyes out for a wee while😂

Again the bass guitar just DRIVES this song along! Most people won't even notice it consciously, but it wouldn't be anywhere close to this without it. What a contrast to her fabulous voice!!!
