New here? My name is Lea and I live with my partner Maarten, our daughter Puck and toddler Bo on our land in Central Portugal. We left the rat race in the Netherlands in 2018 and moved south in our old campervan. Five years ago we bought land in Portugal that had been abandoned for several decades. After lots of hard work we now live in a beautiful yurt and keep ourselves busy growing our own vegetables as well as producing olive oil, wine and honey on a small scale. This channel documents all the different jobs we have to do, and sometimes some nice footage of this beautiful country we now call home.

Your garden is producing a lot of veggies. Every garden should have your flowers. They will draw you in. Thanks for sharing. Hello to everyone.❤

I love your flowers mixed in your garden. My Mom always had flowers around her garden to promote pollination.
  • Good morning from Canada. I thought of you yesterday while watering my garden and meditating on order and chaos.

At 71 years old here in Maine USA I am still learning every day. Have been an organic gardener since a young boy taught to me by my grandfather. Since you have such a hot and sunny environment have you ever tried sun drying some of your crops? Just a thought. TY for sharing your lives with us all.
  • Forget all the "cult" propaganda and what other people say. Do what works in your area. You don't have to turn over the soil if you are worried about soil structure, but you can still fork it and build up the beds with whatever organic matter or manure you have. The garden still looks good. At least you can eat the beetroot.
  • Thank you for sharing your garden with us. I love it that you include flowers for pollination and for beauty. Your videos are always a jpy.

Hi all, for my kidney beans I dig a trench about a foot deep during the winter months and fill the trench with any newspapers and cardboard and any waste veg, leaves, water the trench thoroughly, a week before you want to plant your beans fill in the trench, I always put my beans straight into the bed 15th of may I see no reason to grow them in pots just seams a lot more work, for the supports I use 8 Foot canes either side of the bed criss cross the top of the canes a secure them with twine place a long pole across the tops of the canes from end to end and have another pole at each end of the bed for extra support, I usually put three beans to every cane and leave the best one in the bed take however many is left out.i hope this helps you succeed in growing a better crop.

You can use a row of Sunflowers for a shade block on your plants that don't like the summer sun. By the time the intense sun of summer comes the Sunflowers will be tall enough to be a block for the plants behind them if planted close together. Just take note of how that summer sun hits your garden and plan where to place them for the protection they will give. The sun will change during the year and this way they can be where they are most needed.
