The Norway prison cells look better than some college dorms I've seen.

Me: Why am I watching this? I'll never end up in jail. My brain: Just in case.
  • I quite like the "farm your own food" idea if the prisoners are the ones working on the farm.

The prison cells here in Norway are supposed to make the prisoners life almost the same as if they would not be in prison and it works very well.
  • Imagine the guards in Norway just hearing the prisoners raging and screaming at their PC.
  • I did 30 days in a county jail once in 2008. Bologna every day for lunch, sometimes they would cut it thicker and call it "breakfast ham" or they would put some pepper in it and call it salami, and the cheese never melts. I still haven't eaten a slice of bologna since then.

criminals: *choosing which state they're gonna do the crime*
  • My uncle went to prison (i live on russia) and he was sentenced 4 years. When he was released he never committed a crime again. He described it exactly as this video described it. Sorry Bright Side, but BE AMAZED has taken 1st place!
  • i've studied about Norway prisons and i think we can all learn from it, rather than stripping away criminals their basic human needs and basically dehumanising them Norway creates a prison that allows all criminals to be able to reform and have a second chance in society. i heard that they also earn money by working within the prison so when they've finished serving their sentence they're able to afford food and other necessities out of prison rather than worrying about having no money.

Remember that Norwegian prisons are to rehabilitate, not punish

I used to be the kitchen supervisor of an Ohio prison. The potatoes we served in there were intended to be fed to pigs, and even had a "not for human consumption" warning on the bag. The vegetables always came in a day or two away from being rotten, and the stuff we served as "ground beef" could not be called such legally.

I'm a dispatcher/jailer in my county in Arkansas and I usually cook meals like gumbo, dirty rice, fajitas, and other southern comfort meals for our inmates. Seeing this makes me glad that we are able to make some good meals.

Norway's prisons look like a luxury motel room.
  • I've been to jail in the us unjustly for mental illness. I have to say no matter how bad the criminal, I still strongly believe in the sanctity of their human rights, and believe that providing a less-than humane environment for the incarcerated reflects badly upon us all as a culture.
