This reporter wanted the chief gone and he got what he wanted. What people need to realize is that one man can't protect a whole city. This chief will face difficulties too.

People that have no duty to protect anyone but themselves are not concerned about your safety and security.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that police have no specific obligation to protect. In its 1989 decision in DeShaney v. Winnebago County Department of Social Services, the justices ruled that a social services department had no duty to protect a young boy from his abusive father. In 2005's Castle Rock v. Gonzales, a woman sued the police for failing to protect her from her husband after he violated a restraining order and abducted and killed their three children. Justices said the police had no such duty. Most recently, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit upheld a lower court ruling that police could not be held liable for failing to protect students in the 2018 shooting that claimed 17 lives at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

don't be surprised when he disappoints like his predecessors. they're all the same....

Acevedo was no better than, he went to Florida and they didn’t want him

Thr cop is wrong. His job isn't to protect the people. The courts already ruled they have no obligation to anyone's safety but their own. They're job is supposed to be upholding the constitution and defending the peoples right but im reality their only job is to generate revenue for the state.

well, i said those cases were going to cost the chief is job and i was right....i retired from there in 2002 and i think real problem is not enough lab employees to do the work...houston has always been short on employees

As a retired journalist, I find it disheartening how the reporter targeted and created a smear campaign to destroy Troy Finner. Why create doubt in the community toward those who are elected to keep order and discipline? They used Troy as a scapegoat and never allowed him an opportunity to correct the deficiency. I wish this acting Chief the best!!!
