I was able to whip up this video pretty quickly, but I do want to apologize in advance for the lower editing quality. As some of you may know I'm having some recent trouble with Monetization and it's affected my morale. I'm slowly getting better as I wait for a response. With all that being said, I hope you guys enjoy.

I'm pretty sure that in one of Albert Einstein's papers he said that with haki, ki, chakra, etc... u can actually move faster then light. Look it up, he was also a huge fan one piece as well.

“Ah yes light speed is impossible, however time travel is fine” type people. This sort of thing is so tiresome. Good video btw.

I can't believe this even needed to be answered. Like the only people who would actually find lightspeed or FTL combat suspension breaking are those who want to treat fiction like real life, are too into hard/realistic fiction, just being disingenuous, or should just not read fiction at all. When a story from the very beginning has someone who can stretch like rubber, have a demon fox sealed in their belly, or become a literal Death God, your suspense of disbelief shouldn't die at FTL combat because there are WAY more fantastical things to kill your suspension of disbelief than the laws of physics not being followed.
  • A lot of people also only go by how visually impressive feats are. People are way more comfortable giving Flashy Flash from One Punch Man FTL scaling than Luffy, even though they should actually be relative in speed. And yeah, that FEELS weird to say, but the numbers don't lie.

It's already established that some people will downplay one piece characters solely because they hate the series. Just hate the idea that these op characters can be on par with their favorite series characters. Especially among the big 3, one in particular.

It’s fantasy, it’s imagination, it’s fictional, ofc light speed is possible and even being faster than light is possible, you know why? Because one thing is faster than speed, the MIND.

I'm happy someone finally said this. People often try to downplay their light-speed feats, especially for One Piece or Naruto characters, as if the author didn't just straight out say they were light-speed. I'm glad you could adequately explain this to them, and I will definitely be referring to your light-speed video whenever it comes out.

that last point about Kizaru circling the world is one that really gets to me, Kizaru has in several occassions shown that he can indeed travel at lightspeed to a place... so long as he knows where he needs to go and where he's landing, since one of One Piece's biiggest problems for anyone living in its world is *navigation*. there's also the very recent example of Kuma's own fast travel, where he COULD travel to any island he's been to, but he had to make a red-line stop because it was blocking the way. There's also the whole argument of combat speed, and moving a such speeds taking effort so its not something that can be done at all times, or the fact that Kizaru may travel at light speed, but he cant lightspeed an entire marine fleet while also bodyguarding someone else.
  • One of the more interesting arguments against FTL characters was the fact that apparently causality itself caps at lightspeed, that characters can’t move faster than light without non causal means. Personally I just think this means that the speed of causality doesn’t cap at lightspeed in a fictional setting.
  • 6:15 Bruh there were so many Naruto glazers who would say that Luffy was aim-dodging. I didn't really believe it, but I couldn't disprove it for a while.

Its not about being realistic. Just consistent
  • @DrGreen-oo3ei
It's funny how people can suspend there. Disbelief for things like comic books. But the second an anime has light speed character. Everyone loses their minds.

Nah based on science shinra is the only human character that moves at sol because he disintegrates wen he does.(satire)

“The Author did intend characters are actually moving FTL, they are just using the term “Lightspeed” to give the idea that they are moving really fast” That is like something who fell into lava saying “This is so melt me” and they’re clearly melting, and someone just replies “He didn’t mean that, he meant it’s slightly Warm”💀
  • there's actually "scientific" way in which a character can go at or beyond the speed of light without breaking reality. and that's that you don't set the Speed of Light as the Speed of Causality. what does that mean? well all you really need to know is that in our real life universe the Speed of Light is as fast as it is because that's the Speed Limit of Causality. the speed at which a cause can still come before an effect. but in fictional universes, you could simply have the Speed of Light be the same as it is in real life, while the Speed of Causality is much much higher. there's even a basis for this in fiction. specifically in DC comics. the Flash can run at MFTL+ speeds, of course. but he doesn't travel through time. there's a speed limit called the "Time Barrier" (kinda like the so called "Sound Barrier") wherein once he reaches THAT speed, he can travel through time. but this is such a massively faster than light speed as to make it unquantifiable. the Speed of Causality in all likelihood, probably is infinite in DC. it's really that simple. Speed of Causality >>>> Speed of Light one reason a character might not want to travel around everywhere at the Speed of Light is pretty obvious. Oda lays it out pretty clearly with Captan Kuro. you're moving... ya know; FASTER than LIGHT. he literally couldn't see. because he's moving faster than the photons. also the Blur Effect. moving that fast could be dangerous. especially in One Piece. where Devil Fruit users are common place, and the world is an ocean, and oh yeah: Devil Fruits give an automatic weakness to water. you're liable to end up in the ocean if you keep that up. also, even non-Devil Fruit users don't have it easy. i mean, you have to know how to swim, for one. which, most people in One Piece probably do. granted. another thing tho, are the Sea Monsters. they're uh, a bit of deterrent... i would say.
  • You want to know something funny about that "Their speed of light is slower." excuse they use? Even if it was it wouldn't change much of anything. Physicists have said that they could easily imagine a universe with faster or slower light speed because it doesn't really change anything. This is because the speed of light is less about light and more about information. It's the speed of causality or the max speed any 2 points in space can communicate with each other. So saying "Their speed of light is slower." means nothing because physics works just about the same.
