  • Thank you for your transparency on this challenging topic. I appreciate you.

I've been struggling with anxiety recently. It seems to flare up when I'm crossing the road. It's horrible. It robbed me of my confidence, but I've had to force myself to venture out. And any time I've felt myself beginning to panic, I just say to myself "Come on, Paul. Pull yourself together. It's all in your mind. You're in control".
  • What can i say Ross, you would never know and you are doing everyone a great service by taking openly about Anxiety, Thanks you never know who you may have helped by being so open.
  • Well done, Ross, for speaking on this difficult subject, hopefully it will help others out there.
  • Wow, Ross, I never even knew that about you. Just shows that you never know what people are going through. Since my heart surgery nearly a decade ago, I've found that when I get stressed my heart starts beating extremely hard and I lose all feeling in my arms all the way down to the tips of my fingers (which is a pretty frightening feeling) and if I try to hold something, such as the TV remote, it just slips out of my hand. As a result, I try avoid stressful situations at all costs. Some of the symptoms you have described are actually ones I still deal with, including the dizziness and the headaches, but I have never been diagnosed with anxiety myself. I'll be going on holiday next week, but I will be thinking of you. Take care of yourself, my friend.

Thanks for this video. I have health anxiety and it can get bad. Nobody really understands.
  • Thank you for having the courage to share this! So good that you found your way to deal with it!!!
  • As a practitioner working with anxiety and having been on the same journey I very much relate to this. It was my Auntie Molly in Guernsey who really brought about a big change in myself when I lived there in the 1960s. Can I share this video on my page please Ross?
  • I'm sorry to hear that. I would never have thought so. You always look content in your vids.
  • Thank you Ross for sharing your battle with anxiety. For some it is not an easy subject to talk about or have to deal with and I applaud you for taking the time to explain not only how it has made you feel in the past, but also how it has makes you feel, then seeking the support which was right for you and how you now manage it when it occurs. Having a life long condition which I was diagnosed with in my mid 30's, I know changing or leaving a job which you have worked in for some time is a big thing. Again because for some time my condition remained 'invisible' people did not understand why I looked so well but felt so ill, so I got a lot of people 'judging' me and that was tough. From my diagnosis over 20 plus years ago to where I am now so much water has gone under the bridge. Life has it's twists and turns for the better and for the worse including Covid which has done me no favours whatsoever, hence one of the reasons for not being able to return to Guernsey or travel at this moment in time. I have learned now to live in the moment and try not to think too far ahead. I still have hopes and goals, but have had to learn not to be too hard on myself and worry about the things I cannot change or am not in control of as that takes up a lot of energy that I could put to use elsewhere. You have a lovely wife in Fallon and a beautiful little girl too Ross, keep up the good work you do on this channel. I hope talking about your anxiety will help people open up more or perhaps encourage someone to talk about it or seek support if needed. Sorry for the lengthy comment but wanted to highlight the need for people to talk about areas such as anxiety.

Well done Ross - that took guts. I can't relate but I'm sure that some who watch will find it very helpful. I hope your video chats help because they are so great.
  • Ross buddy thanks for video. I know only too well as live with it every day and true what you say….you can get the heart pounding and the sweating but you get through it and within a few seconds it’s gone! Very honest mate you’ve got this!
  • Ross. Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts on anxiety……. I’m familiar with anxiety……love you more for sharing….. I found listening to Dr. Wayne Dyer audiobooks on utube helped me a lot……🥰♥️🥰🥰♥️💋Lucy.
  • @denealdo
Outstanding Ross - I'm currently going through much the same after an injury at work. Your "heart on sleave" video gives me hope 👍
  • @tsr207
Fascinating video - must have been a difficult time for you - well, all I can say is that your travels around the island kept me sane during my time taking care of my wife - thanks !
  • Such an honest testimony Ross you should be proud I've been there myself and am just coming out of it my faith has got me through. God bless you.
  • Awesome video, mate. This was really brave for you to be so open and I hope it helps others. I can relate to you in an uncanny way. I've found a daily meditation practice has helped me immensely but occasionally still battle with it.
  • @ameliagier.
Ross, you are a champion. So good for people to hear how you overcame anxiety. It affects so many people but as you said most of the time its unseen because people tend to hide it while they are going through it. I also had an identity crisis accompanied with a panic attack but for me it was on a plane. I had panic disorder and generalized anxiety just like you did after the first incident for a really long time. For me, after I conquered the generalized anxiety, I was still left with a phobia of flying which took me a very long time to address, and a lot of effort to overcome. Do you have any residual fear of getting on a cruise again? God bless you and Fallon both forgetting through that. I am trying to get it together to write a little book about how I beat the flying phobia because now that I've gone through it, I really want to help people who are stuck. Once you've gone through anxiety, you're able to empathize with people in a way you never could before. I think it's awesome that you shared this.
