This first film looks at menu settings 1 and 2.

Thanks for the info in your vids Mike , really helpful , coming from a 1dx2 its not too hard to set the om-1 up , similar menus just a lot more options , takes a lot of use to remember which buttons ive used for what setting and ill still forget .. great vids tho thanks 🙂

I have very nearly the same settings that you use with one significant difference. Based on some assessments made by Andy Rouse, I decided to try it. I've set up C-4 (custom menu 4) so that I augment my RAW pictures with a Large Super Fine JPEG and activate the digital teleconverter. Very interesting results.... I've decided to keep using the 2x converter, you might like to try it and see if you agree with what Andy found.

Hi Mike, I am thinking of changing to micro 4/3 from Sony. My Sony a7iv and 100-400 GM are in for a check prior to the warranty coming to an end. It just isn’t performing as well as it should ( I know it could be due to me) and the way technology changes and new cameras I doubt the a7iv will get any useful upgrades. I use it almost always with the x1.4 TC to get the reach, occasionally x2.0 TC. I shoot birds pretty much exclusively. With the x1.4TC I wide open at f8, with the x2.0, f11. Crop mode helps with the x1.4 but a smaller file. The OM -1 at 800mm is f6.7 I think so as far as light is concerned allowing for the smaller sensor I believe they would give equivalent ISO . With Denoise software 12,800 is fine for a hobbyist like me. As a walk and shoot person I would like something lighter due to a dodgy shoulder. In Australia I’m often shooting in shape and open spaces. I think the modern micro 4/3 offers a pretty good package. Any thoughts. I guess there could be an OM-1 Mii around the corner as well.

Again great video Mike, I shoot now with Large fine Jepg the best quality for jepg, and all the file sizes are like 11MB, once I tried shoot in RAW format, the RAW file size is I think 18mb, but then I try to convert them into jepg at my computer with the OM Workspace by batch processing, but the jpeg file came with very strange sizes, some as small as 4mb, and some 7mb, some 8, not a consistent 11mb, it's very strange, and anyway my PC is old and slow, so I stick now with jepg and when I get a new more powerful PC I may shoot raw again.
