Tier 1 operator carrying a holosun. And you got range operators and weekend warriors that still swear aimpoint and trijicon are the only red dots that will ever work. If it’s good enough for him as a civilian it’s good enough for 99% of us.

“There’s a massive difference between paranoia and preparation.” -Delta Operator #965

I love listening these guys who have been operating for years. The level of detail that you get from Unit guys is fascinating. I watched a video of Larry Vickers (a couple of generations behind Kyle) and they both share the same detail (Larry was describing bolting a king-size mag-lite on a MP5 back in the day). Their parallel assessment and evaluation of a tool (in this case a red dot vs the mag-lite) really shows the level of investment these men had in their trade and the advancement of technology. We had a 1SG in 3rd Rangers (Pat Hurley, RIP) who had spent years in the Unit and returned to the Regiment. The man was a wealth of knowledge. He'd walk behind a young 20 year-old fire team leader clearing a room and drop these small pearls of wisdom that saved lives. Proud to be an American and proud of these men who stood the line for our freedom and our children's safety. Thanks to you too Shawn, for the same reasons, your podcasts are excellent.  Sua Sponte.
  • Just spoke to my therapist today and brought up how a stray round hit my household in Chicago. In that same timeframe, my father was at a Sam’s club while there was an active shooter. Long story short, growing up in Chicago and being deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan has definitely taught me how important preparation is. But my therapist had the audacity to hint that I am being paranoid and shouldn’t carry a firearm… I stood ground and told her that it’s better to have it and not need it, rather than need it and not have it. Stay frosty boys!
  • Back in the day I used to EDC my Glock 22 un-chambered and I was able to successfully draw, rack, and hit one of my targets during a attempted robbery. When hindsight kicked in shortly after the incident I realized that the circumstances that allowed me to do so were one of a kind and very unique, and if it weren’t for those particular circumstances, then I probably wouldn’t be alive today. That’s the day that I started caring in one in the chamber.
  • This is WTF I like, break it down and explain the fine details of a sight picture. High level detail. This man has some real knowledge and I’m sure is a wonderful instructor.

Shawn I was watching some of your older gun reviews. Watching them it is very obvious how tight you were wound back then. Good for you acknowledging what you didn’t like and making the changes. Your a real inspiration. You deserve every good thing you have going on. I can’t wait to see the channel get even bigger.

How cool to hear a delta guy discuss moral injury - I’d love to hear more on this topic.

The best part of this interview begins at 10:30, when Kyle and Shawn discuss mental preparation for a gunfight. This is really worth watching again and again.

Videos like these are the ones that deserve millions of views. Been watching your channel since day one Shawn. Thank you for sharing great videos and I’m so happy that we as the viewers get the privilege to hear and see all these badass people share their stories.

Shawn, Your interviews are the absolute best out there. I really appreciate the way you let them tell their story and listen instead of leading them on and constantly interrupting like you see some others do. Keep up the great work and thank you for all you do.

It’s nice seeing how big your podcast and channel has grown. Keep up the great work man🤙

At 10:33 when you ask what is the biggest mistake people make about their EDC and his answer was so spot on. So many people go out get a concealed carry permit and yet have never truly asked themselves can they pull that trigger to kill another human being? No one knows for sure until they do just that. I was glad you asked that and his answer was worth paying close attention to. Thanks Shawn
  • So I watched the full interview….heartbreaking what you have been through. Listening to the trials of men like yourself makes me complain less and appreciate more. Very proud of you and also of Shawn for continuing to bring the Heat on this awesome channel!
  • He’s such a calm man, the violence he’s capable of must be incredible. Maybe my comment came off a little naïve, of course all humans are capable of violence, but him specifically with his training and experience. Like somebody said, it’s the level of control he has that would put it on another level.

Good stuff Shawn and VE. I like when you and/or your guests get into the “why” they do/don’t do, carry/don’t carry, etc. certain things. I like hearing the different perspectives especially from Top Tier warriors who have the real world experience to be passing along information on what works and what doesn’t.
  • Shawn is a solid listener. Personally I believe that is a very valuable asset he brings to the show.
