GEOMETRY NODES Blender 4 : Tutorial: Procedural Pathways : (Step by Step)

Published 2024-01-28
In this video you’ll learn this clever effect using geometry nodes.
You can draw a simple curve and it transforms into this stone path which automatically cuts into the grass. And because its procedural it's really easy to adapt and change the effect.
-Beginner to intermediate tutorial.

Nice to see you getting into geo nodes, can't wait for more vids!
-
Grant, that's amazing! Please, make more such detailed tuts on geometry nodes! Thanks!
-
INSANE!!! PERFECT! THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT TUTORIAL!!! I LOVE YOU ABBIT!!!
-
Just bought this along with Stephen’s Material Nodes course. Looking forward to jumping into it once I finish your Animation & Rigging course, which I’m currently working through.
-
Finishing the geo nodes course right now. Good stuff. ❤
-
This course is already on my todo list. I love procedurally generated modeling.
-
Thanks! And looking forward to the course, just got a few now 🎉

Hi, thanks for the video! Correct me if I'm wrong, but have you ever created a video on your schedule? For example, not necessarily telling us your exact schedule, but an example of how someone could plan out their day and week as a professional doing 3d generalist work? With all the editing, recording, etc you do, I don't know how you make time for it all. I like vfx green screening, 3d sculpting, 2d animation, manga drawing, and 3d modeling/animation but I'm not on a schedule, it's more of a whatever I feel like doing today kind of thing. I feel a disciplined, tighten schedule would make things feel a lot more professional and polished. Also, how long you give yourself a deadline for something. ❤

Brilliant! 💪

I have been wondering why I love using nodes in Davinci Resolve to the point where they are my go to tool to achieve almost anything but absolutely hate using nodes in Blender. I think it is the names and the "resolution". The name of most blender nodes mean very little to anyone investigating them and by "resolution" I mean each blender node does very little on its own which also makes it very difficult to investigate and learn them on your own (I do understand that this also makes nodes more powerful). I think I would prefer that rather than having for example a combine an a xyz node and a random node that these were paramters in the node you were actually interested in like davinci resolve does it. So, a Grant Abbitt course sounds just about perfect given your track record on teaching people new to a field. I found the video very interesting and clever though started to drift off during the grass part. Thanks a lot.

what about branching the curve, I wanna do road intersections from pre existinggeometries

Hi, Grant, thanks for the video. But I have one problem when apply material, the material doesn't appear right. I tried to apply the same material on basic object, and everything is good. So idk how to fix it

Hi Grant :hand-pink-waving: I use Blender cycles to bake textures for gaming assets. I was wondering, can these pathways can be baked after they're realized mesh? I can't see any way of doing that :face-fuchsia-tongue-out:

Please make a tutorial on creating a plant with geometry nodes
-
👍👍👍
-
MOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! please
-
Why they make Scale value (=1), being that "1" is so "strong" and impractical that we always have to work with hundredths?
-
Seems like the course is $112… or $95 discounted to $12 when I log in. Is that a mistake? 0:39

the only link in the description is to your newsletter sign up page and the only way to get the file for this is to sign up and then get sent to your google drive. that somewhat scammy of you
