Was I WRONG About Digital Circus?

Fun fact: In english Jax said "I'm so unbelievably disappointed right now" but in french he said the meme "my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined", how nice. 😂

Being disappointed that Jax isn't the "Secretly Troubled" trope after the creator went on record multiple times to unambiguously say shit like "He's Chaotic Evil" and "He deserves to be at the circus" is crazy. A character can be likable AND a totally irredeemable jerk at the same time

I think people exaggerated Jax's behavior in this episode. It's not like he suddenly became something he's not. He has always been an asshole.

I love how people are so disappointed that Jax has no redeeming moments in this episode, so they desperately grabbed on to the split second where he looked a little sad. 😂

It’s funny how people are saying Jax is different now because as someone who watched the pilot, did not engage with the fandom, and then watched episode 2 he seems the exact same to me

You’re not alone in the “there’s nothing wrong with it, it just don’t click for me” train. This has happened to me SOOOO many times, I swear. Sometimes I get into a series or cartoon that is very well written, but I can’t really connect with it in the way it’s expected and it feels like I’m just nodding along as the plot goes. And honestly, that’s normal, it just means that it isn’t something that you’re vibing with currently. Sometimes it’s personal preference, other times it’s because of personal stuff going on in your life, it happens and it is okay. You’re not obligated to like something just because other people do. Just go with whatever is in your heart!

Why did it take me 16 and a half minutes to realize by DC he meant digital circus, not DC as in the comics

Goose has stated on twitter multiple times that Jax is SUPPOSED to be hated She's said things like "he's the one that deserves to be there”, “he’s chaotic evil”, and “he’s gonna do something unforgivable later in the show”

I honestly don’t want Jax to have any redeeming qualities until the later episodes. It’s been too long since a show has had a genuine a$$hat character that only changes when the plot demands it!

Gooseworx did specify on Twitter that Digital Circus isn't gonna have this huge complex lore to it, but it is gonna be centered around the characters themselves and building relationships. A character-centric show, not a plot-centric one, if that makes sense. I personally think it's awesome.

I personally think that the whole "Caine's jokes go on too long to the point where the joke doesn't hit" is kinda his gimmick, like and uncle to tells shitty jokes but you don't let him stop cause you'd feel bad. He's an AI meant to be overly wacky so he just kinda does that and it's his whole schtick.

I find it Funny how both fandoms of hazbin and digital were upset that their husbandos(Alastor/jax) were horrible people despite it being obvious that they are.

Ngl I wasn’t huge on Jax, but I kinda like him now that he’s worse. Nothing in the circus matters, and he’s cruel and callous and that keeps him sane, entertained, and emotionally distant. He doesn’t care and that keeps him from abstracting. Like he sucks so much, and that’s intriguing in the context of the circus.

TADC isn't "trying too hard" because Gooseworx, the creator of the show, just isn't like that. She said it in an interview that she just got reached out, made what she liked, and hoped for it to at least get half the views as MD. She had no idea it would blow up Also it's totally fine if you don't like a show or not enjoy it as much as many other people, the fans of the show are crazy if they think that's unacceptable (I mean most are but that's every fandom ever so yea.) Also, edit: 5:43 I just had to point this out, I absolutely agree. Like I don't dislike him he's just not that funny imo. Too wacky, y'know?

Something I really like is that they didn't try to make jax like a "bad boy" but actually made him a full on semi unapologetic antagonist
