Lisa: "We're gonna pop popcorn without a lid" Me: "Oh Lisa, you dirty girl."
  • @Rouge_7
You could see the little girl in Lisa's grin as she watched the wok, waiting for the popcorn to start popping.

I find that using a lid keeps the steam in and makes the popcorn a little softer/not as crisp. You can use a strainer or splatter screen to hold the popcorn in while letting the steam out. =)

I made popcorn in my wok exactly like this for decades. And like Lisa said, it really seasons the wok to perfection! Best way to season a new wok

I had to laugh! You are like a kid with a new toy! To be honest, as a teenager I was babysitting three children for the very first time and was told they loved popcorn while watching TV. So after their pajamas were on we headed to the kitchen to get started! Had everything ready! Everything, but the lid to the pot! As the popcorn flew I was frantically looking for the lid as the kids screamed and laughed with delight! They had a ball while I spent the evening cleaning the kitchen! I was their favorite babysitter after that!

Awesome video. My dog would love finding all the popcorn that ended up on the floor.
  • Please make a video for cooking popcorn in a slow-cooking crockpot -- for those of us who aren't in a hurry. Thanks, I'll check back in a couple years.
  • a) Thanks for a very cool lesson, I have a tiny wok, gonna try this! b) Lisa, you're the best! That was soooo much fun!

We love making our popcorn like this! I make everyone be quiet so I can hear the kernels pop. Haha After the popcorn is ready, I add a piece of butter to the warm wok and then toss the popcorn. Delish!

the wok is so good to make kettle corn. heat wok -> add oil till hot -> add white sugar and pop corn and keep the wok moving till it slows popping. no burnt sugar!
