  • The thing that keeps being left out of the Houndini death is, he had a stunt where he would tighten his abdominal muscles until they were rock hard, and invite people to hit him as hard as they could. The time that caused Houndini's death he didn't have time to tighten his abdominal muscles.
  • Actually, with Jon-Erik Hexum, the gun was not loaded with a bullet, but with a standard blank. The force of the blank, when fired point-blank-metal-to-skin, still delivers enough force to be fatal. One of my first teenage TV-star crushes. The man was beautiful.

I agree that Irwin probably wouldn't want any resentment held towards what happened. He knew what he was doing, and the risks involved. And while he obviously wouldn't have wanted to die that way, I imagine his knowledge and experience was always ready for that possibility on some level.

13:24 these pranks are ridiculous. There was a case here in the US, the Tim Wilks case, where a 20-year young man tried a similar prank and approached a family with small children to “rob them” at knife point. In Tennessee. Where slightly over half of all residents have permits to carry concealed weapons. His last words were literally “It’s a prank, brah.” I feel awful for his family, and for the man who shot him, for the children who witnessed the whole thing, and for everyone involved. It just didn’t need to happen.
  • “John Denver crashed due to a fuel tank valve mounted in a dumb location. He ran out of fuel and when he turned to activate the valve he pressed the controls forward putting the airplane in an uncontrolled dive with no power to regain altitude”. -my professional pilot husband

If I recall correctly, Aeschylus changed drama forever. Before Aeschylus, plays were the characters separating themselves from the rest of the chorus and presenting a monologue or interacting with the chorus. Aeschylus introduced characters within the play talking to each other.
  • Steve Irwin's death saved a life. Shortly after his death, another man was stung in the same way. Knowing what happened to Steve, the stinger was not removed immediately. It was left until he made it to the hospital.

John Denver's death was caused by a design flaw in the plane. The lever to switch the fuel tanks was located behind the pilot's shoulder. When Denver turned to turn the lever, his body pressed the yoke forward, throwing the plane into an unrecoverable dive.

Actually, with brandon lee, the gun was not loaded with a bullet, but with a standard blank but there was a slug that was jammed in the barrel of the gun that was pushed due to the force of the blank

Now that song is back in my head again! "Dumb ways to die, so many dumb ways to die"
  • I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer. The fact that Steve Jobs had a good chance of surviving it by using modern medicine and eschewed it until it was too late…,it’s just one of the most profoundly dumb things I’ve ever heard.
  • It must ve embarrassing to some of these celebs that they'll be more known for their way of death rather than who they were
  • "She was uncomfortable with smoking." I got a bad feeling she said as much and the smoker thought throwing the match in her direction would be funny but it unintentionally actually hit her.

15:16 it is believed Steve pulled the barb out which caused him to bleed more
  • @10:02, it's like with Terry Kath, who was the guitarist for the band Chicago. Kath was also an avid gun collector, but his last words were "What do you think I'm gonna do? Blow my brains out?" before he accidentally shot himself in the head, dying instantly.

Hmmm new fear unlocked..... Random eagles dropping random animals on my head cause they think I'm a rock 😂😂

The world truly lost a treasure when it lost Steve Irwin... He had a beautiful family and was a great guy. I hope he rests in peace.

Licensed or not, John Denver was quite an accomplished pilot. His father, who was a USAF test pilot, taught him to fly his Leer jet. The experimental plane he was flying had just been purchased, and he had two independent mechanics check it out. Problem was, the cockpit of the plane wasn't designed very well. While holding the stick with one hand, the pilot had to reach behind himself to switch the fuel tanks over so it was very awkward. A teacher who witnessed the whole thing (not knowing who the pilot was) said the engine started sputtering and smoking, and they suspect the carb had lost the proper air/fuel mix. The witness said the pilot deliberately flew over Monterey Bay 'cause he knew he was going to crash. It was a nice early evening on October 12 and a lot of kids were outside playing. John may've delayed too long to switch tanks, but at least he may've saved many lives by not crashing into someone's neighborhood. (Interestingly enough, earlier that day he'd gone golfing with Clint Eastwood and some others, told them he was going to go play 'with my new toy' that afternoon.) Sorry so long!

RIP Steve Irwin, loved that guy as a kid, he was inspirational to so many growing up by seeing someone interacting with nature in the wild.
