Dual foam STPA Cone pads set of 3
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPTA-6-150mm-Polishing-Pad-Buff…

(you can pick individual pads from that link.. be aware the blue pad is the most coarse cutting pad)

3 piece hex set (its actually £1.93 for the 3 pads inc deliver ((wtf!)

2inch spot pads 9.99 for 16
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16Pcs-2inch-Flat-Polishing-Buff…

shop around etc you can find most things... they seem to have messed up prices on some of the sets... like that 3 set of hex for 1.93.. when if you locate them individually and bulk by 10 they are more expensive.. bit weird

  • Some updates. Those Cone pads (red, orange, blue). I gave the pads to a local detailer to use on a 15ml throw DA. the orange pad, the orange top foam section seperated from the black foam layer after half a car. The other cheap sort of Hex pattern ones I have, they have been hammered by myself (on 3401's and rotaries) and they have not failed on me, but theres less strain on them on those machines. so yer these pads are very very cheap, usable. but not as good as western or eurofoam pad offerings. In my opinion.

2 reasons I like your channel 1, you seem unbiased basing your information on back-to-back tests. 2, you understand that some people don't want to spend a arm and a leg on detailing... You keep budget in mind.
  • My problem with "pro-pads" is their price. €15 per pad is absolutely ridiculous, and I refuse to believe they even cost as much as €1,50 to manufacture.
  • i dont know how to thank you for this amazing post!!! its like you read everyone's mind.. your reviews are so spot on ! i have to admit brother i watch your vids as soon as you post them ! within 15 minutes ! your a blessing to the industry ...thanks again
  • I got three of the dual density pads a while back and finally used one today. Gave the car a quick going over with Lineprime and the orange pad on my Rupes LHR15 mk2. Worked really well.
  • @pfp215
Freaking great channel, man. Love your no-BS, unbiased info delivery. Your vids may be long but your even-handed coverage of these topics saves me from piecing together clues from myriad online sources like some Sherlock mystery
  • I have learned a lot from watching your vids I have tried these Chinese bundles on a drill I am quite pleased with the results only downside so far after washing a few times the backing is coming away I only use on my own car. Big Autoglym fan since the 70s but am also using Scholl after seeing your demos. Avid watcher. Kevin
  • Hi Jon, many thanks for this review! As always a down-to-earth, real world insight - top Man !!! Hope you don't mind me posting this here as thought it might help those about to try painting, using a DA & the plethora of pads & compounds/polishes available. This has been my first foray into DA polishers, differing compounding & polishing pads. Through your review it became apparent that I needed really good pads to help me should I have problems with the new DA polisher. After also watching your polishing 'master class' vid I at least felt comfortable with tackling the job - prepping, priming, painting, clear coat work (all rattle cans) then the DA work on an Aprilia SL1000R Falco (motorcycle) that I must sell after cancer & now my failing kidneys requiring a dual pancreas & kidney 6 hour transplant operation (SPK) which means my riding days have come to a close :( . Thanks to you & your brilliant vids I needn't have worried so much as I did. As always, you learn tons along the way, but for a first attempt I don't think it looks that bad at all & think it does look better than most of my mates factory paint jobs. There is some very minor orange peel, but you have to look hard for it & only really shows under my brilliant £5 inspection light find (Link below). Am really impressed with the Maguiar's compound & polish & will definitely be using it again as m go-to product. Now feel confident enough to tackle my biggest critic with her silver mica Lexus RX400h which has the usual blemishes. ...p.s. have my passport ready, just in case LoL ;-) _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Equipment Used : Argos Challenge Xtreme DA polisher £57.99 (free shipping) Link - http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4645777 Ring - Utility LED Inspection Light Link - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchRouter?srch=ring+inspection+led&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1 _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Halfrauds - P2000 wet & dry sanding paper, 500ml Primer Grey, 500ml Satin Black Spray Paint, 500ml Clear Lacquer Flexipads - 100 mm (4") Orange (cutting) & green (polishing) hex-logic (Perfectly Cleaned) Flexipads - 70 mm (3-1/2") 3 Hole Backing Plate 5/16 (M8) for DA Polishers (Perfectly Cleaned) Maguiars - 450 ml Meguiars Ultimate Compound, 473 ml Ultimate Polish (Halfrauds) Autoglym - 500ml Extra Gloss Protection, 150 gr Autoglym High Definition Wax (my detailing product arsenal) _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks again Jon, literally could not have dreamt of tackling this job to this level of satisfaction without your advice & vids - Brilliant !!!
  • Brilliant find Jon great review as always thanks for sending the stuff down very impressive as you know speak soon 👍🏻
  • @DJ-vw6ov
Thanks for your time and effort doing the video. Love the intro. The Chinese seem to make everything anyways. I bought some on eBay but haven't tried them yet (was waiting on a review like yours). Again; Thank you.
  • Thanks for this John. Always wondered about these cheap pads, so your vid has given me the courage to try a few out. Will be interesting to compare them with the chem guys hex and lake country ccs I have. Certainly for those of us who are amateurs and only using a polisher a few times a year it's hard to justify having a full collection of all the different grades of a premium pad. Personally I will use these to supplement the pads I use all the time.
  • After purchasing a Guild da polisher that was on offer in argos i realised the 6" backing pate and 7" pad were of limited use. After watching this i ordered 3" and 5" plates and a set 3 pads in each size from ZFE. When i ordered i expected them in about 3+ weeks. But they arrived in about 10 days. Really impressed with delivery times and the level of tracking info, Not the normal gamble you enter with Chinese sellers. Got to do a few paint repairs before i can try them out.
  • Absolutely love your channel and the information you put out. I've just bought a DAS 6 Pro and some Scholl S20 black after watching your reviews on it. I'm planning to decontaminate and do a one step paint correction with the Scholl S20 next week on my E60 BMW. Do you think the yellow hex pads would be suitable for this or will I need to look at more reputable brands? Thank you.
  • Right Jon, my two pence. Purchased the higher quality SPTA pads [blue and orange]. 100% spot on with the compounding pad, probably as good as anything out there. I'd say its around 5-10% not as firm as a Menzerna white compounding pad. The orange polishing pad is more of a light polishing pad. If we say a Menzerna orange is a heavy polishing pad, CG Hex is a medium polishing pad then the SPTA is around 10-15% lighter than the hex. Going a little from memory here as I tested them two weeks ago but overall I do recommend them and they preform. Just my 2p...I like them so much I now have 4 of each in the collection just in case I do a car that don't deserve my Lake Country or CG Hex pads.
  • i polished my car using chesp Chinese pad, i bought a set of 6. and paired an Orange pad on meguiars m100 and having a superb result. and in happy with it considering its my first time. :)
  • Would you advise getting the 5inch hex pads with a 5 inch backing plate ? I've noticed the chemical guys pads are usually half an inch bigger than the backing plate
  • @AlexKid8
Ordered the blue cutting pad you recommended. Would it be worth a punt on a couple of 2" pads with a backing plate?
  • @MrUzzyful
What premium pads do you use? And how far off is it from the dual pads you use(Blue and orange ones)
  • @kiddkai
Amazing video! Which Chinese pad you will use with scholl concept s20 on a soft paint car?
