Andre is correct - the Top Secret Drum Corps are civilian, but amazing nonetheless and often perform with the Royal Marines as well as others.

This is all about discipline in the ranks. To give the troops a beat to march to when on the battlefield. They were also used to synchronise reloads during battles. For signalling etc,. Very professional and very smart. Good to keep the tradition alive but I'm glad there isn't the need for it so much now. :) And oh WOW !! the first comment - and I was just about to leave for the supermarket too before I saw this lool - better get going now otherwise I won't be able to eat, :)

Top Secret was founded in 1991, with its roots in the rich drumming traditions of the band's home city, Basel, which is known for its annual carnival called Basler Fasnacht. The city is said to have over 3,000 active drummers at any one time. These drummers perform at traditional events such as Fasnacht, the Vogel Gryff, Charivari, and various parades associated with the city's guilds. A Trommelkönig (Drummer King) competition is also held every year by the city's Fasnacht Committee. Basel drumming style is militaristic, derived from the military drumming drills of Swiss soldiers dating back to the Middle Ages. Top Secret in many ways adheres to the military nature of Basel drumming but differs in many respects. Its drummers play at a much faster rate. Also, while traditional Basel drumming is somber and favors traditional marching tunes (accompanied by fifes during the Fasnacht), Top Secret's drumming style is upbeat and playful. Segments of their routines feature a rhumba, a drummer's duel, drumstick juggling, exploding flagpoles, and other crowd-pleasing details.[1] Perhaps because of their 18th century uniforms and precision work, the band is often referred to as a military band or a part of the Swiss Army, but it is not affiliated with any military unit.

Amazing stuff if you want to see something amazing. Neil peart from Rush live in Frankfurt

this has to be the greatest drum Collab ever, simply stunning

The corps became the focal point for Napoleon's organizational adaptation. The corps system had been previously established by France's National Assembly in 1794. The Swiss Armed Forces operates on land and in the air, serving as the primary armed forces of Switzerland.Have a look at the Basel Tattoo. All the best of England.

I really love how you two interact with each other. Couple goals +1

You are correct Dominika - they keep extra sticks readily available as they obviously could not stop drumming while searching for the fallen drumstick. Both of these bands were very limited in their movements on such a small stage. This was about half of the Top Secret Corps. Sending you best wishes and oodles of love. 🥰🥰🥰

Its amazing the different "variety" of music there is. DRUMS ! The precision is awsome, so much practice. You two are always funny when you talk about food. Did you ever cook with all that hot sauce you received during your "unboxing"? Andrie was so excited. Have a great day. God Bless!🐢🇺🇸

These drummers were common before electronic communications to the soldiers from the commanders. The different beats had different meaning. Move the flank , attack yo the left, etc. also to intimidate the enemy. ❤️🇨🇦

There’s a video here on YouTube. It’s called Royal Marine Drummers pay respect to fallen Marine. It’s basically a tribute to a marine who was killed in Afghanistan. It’s brilliant we’ll worth a look.
-
The 'Top Secret drum Corps' are from Switzerland and are a civillian drum group and 'The Royal Marine Corp of Drums' are part of the British army and also fight on the battlefield.
-
They are called ," The Royal Marine Buglers " and happen to play drums , if you look at them marching down the Mall playing the drums you'll see their bugler hanging at the back of them
-
Wow! Beautiful!
-
I’m sure the Royal Marines can fight if they have to as well 😅
-
I think, as humans, we love to witness precision and perfection. My generation (I am 68) grew up with discipline and trying to do everything precise. The younger generation can learn a lot from this video as to discipline and commitment.

Just to clarify, the Top Secret Drum Corps are civilian not military, which is why their performance is more flamboyant and showy. Although they're civilians, they are so good, they're regular guests at military events, like at this Royal Marine concert.

God Smack has an Awesome Drum Battle you two should consider reacting to, and of course more 🛠️T⚙️⚙️L🛠️
