So my question is: after two wet years we knew fires would be rampant as soon as it got winding and hot. What did we do to prepare for them? Did we mow the brush around housing and building areas in large enough swaths that would be difficult for fires to jump? Did we renew the fire breaks and make them wider cuz we know the old ones were not working well? Did we order the Canadian super scooper to arrive earlier than normal? Did we ensure the homeless encampments weren't starting campfires near dry brush? Did we patrol the moderate to high fire areas often to spot dangers and sparking fires? Did we shut off power when above ground utility lines were in danger of starting fires when it was windy? Did we ensure everyone with a home in fire country had closed eaves and fire-retardant roofs? Have we done any research on how to keep fires from destroying buildings throughout the years?
