Gaza ceasefire talks might be ‘last chance’ to free hostages, says Blinken | BBC News

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said now is "probably the best, maybe the last opportunity" to secure a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza.

Mr Blinken made his comments during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Monday during his ninth trip to the region since the war began in October.

The US has expressed optimism about a deal since talks resumed in Doha last week, but that level of optimism is not shared by the Israeli leadership or Hamas.

Each accuses the other of obstinate cynicism, and blocking a deal.

Blinken can't get anything done. He's a puppet. That's all. Nobody respects him.

Blinken needs to be replaced for this job. He is not the right person for this job. He couldn't do it all this long time for some one else to do the job

BBC always support genocide with language like this? Palestinians held by Israel are referred to as prisoners, despite claims that they were kidnapped. Meanwhile, Israelis held by Palestinians are often called hostages, not prisoners. Both sides engage in taking captives, but reports often portray Israel as the moral army. However, Israel is accused of abusing its Palestinian prisoners through practices like sexual violence and sleep deprivation, while Palestinians are said to keep their Israeli hostages in better health, as evidenced by the condition of prisoners released in past exchanges. Additionally, Palestinians reportedly refrain from targeting helicopters evacuating wounded soldiers, as they believe this goes against their faith. So, who is truly the moral army?

Why hasn't the Beeb reported on the resignation of senior civil servant and "pen holder" Mark Smith at the FCDO because of the British Government's alleged complicity in war crimes? Surely this is relevant to public debate holding our government to account.

The fact that there are sanctions against Russia and Iran and none against Israel tells us all we need to know about the state of Western democracies.

Blinken knows there is no chance of doing a deal because the US is unwilling to rein in its rabid dog which is the only way a deal could be done. There is no point for Hamas to agree to anything which doesn't involve a complete cessation of hostilities and a complete withdrawal of Israel from Gaza and the Philadelphi Corridor. Occupation of the corridor is in violation of Israel's obligations under the Camp David accord and Egypt should on insist on their rights over this.

Before the death of the main negotiator Israel was in no rush for a ceasefire, the hostages are not priority just as the prisoners are not a priority!
