Why You Suck AT PUBG is a tutorial series created with the average or struggling player in mind. With top notch tips and aggressively average game play clips, we break down the fundamentals why players suck...at PUBG.

PUBG has a lot of game mechanics that can be difficult to master but having good keybindings can really make a difference in those more intense situations. I always prioritize my ability to move because being mobile means you're able to avoid being shot more easily and allows you to get yourself into positions to win gunfights. Everyone should always find the most natural and comfortable settings to fit their needs. There really is no one optimal way for everyone to play.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene for other games using the film Battle Royale for inspiration, and expanded into a standalone game under Greene's creative direction. In the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed themselves. The available safe area of the game's map decreases in size over time, directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters. The last player or team standing wins the round.

I watched this whole series in 2 days. I hope to see them coming. I do think I suck just a little bit less after watching these videos. Moving the peaking/leaning keys from QE to the thumb buttons did really help. Also adjusting the sensitivity to the size of my mouse pad. The videos are awesome, please keep them coming. Question is there a way to set the ADS to hold and the Aim to toggle? I tried it on the settings but when I changed them and tried to aim/ads nothing happened so I have to revert back to how it was.

Edit: apologies for perhaps a slightly convoluted explanation Just to share my personal experience with key binds: I'm still using Q and E for leans, since too many mouse buttons to press during a firefight makes my mouse grip inconsistent (made a mistake of buying a smaller mouse for a relatively large hand), hence sprays turn out worse and I don't feel comfortable. What I've done with leans however is I've swapped them around, so E does the left lean and Q does the right one. The reason for that is pretty much the one Griff outlined - to keep fingers on WASD at all times. What this swap achieves is when you're peeking a corner, you're usually peeking the same side you're leaning towards, so let's say you lean right and before the lean you were walking right as well, so your fingers get tangled trying to keep D pressed and pressing E afterwards. For that move I used to shuffle all fingers around - before pressing E I'd move the middle finger to E and let the ring finger hover over W to be able to move forward. Obviously, it was pretty inefficient, so I had to switch the binds. Now, if you look at the same maneuvre with swapped Q and E, you'll see that if you're moving right and want to lean further right to peek the corner you'd keep D pressed and click Q with available ring finger without any sort of weird moves and keeping the fludity of movement overall. Granted this change takes some time to get used to (took me about a week of failed peeks and lost firefights), I'd highly recommend doing that if you don't have any buttons on your mouse to use for leans and/or don't want to do that for some other reason. This improves the consistency of lean peeks tremendously and shortens that much needed time to snap on to someone's head and win the duel.

Ok the left alt for crouch makes alot of sense

Nice vid. My key bindings are nuts. I am at the point where I use Alt as a secondary function for all of the buttons on my mouse. The DPI shift button on the G502 is crouch, but when I hold alt and press the DPI shift button it prones my character. Left scroll click function on the mouse is reload, right scroll click button is grenade wheel, alt + scroll up is jump, alt + scroll down is vault (space bar is still jump/vault). My back center key on the G502 is free look. Those two side buttons you use for lean are inventory and the "F" key. Alt + Right click is soft aim, basic right click is ADS. the two top facing buttons to the left of the left click button are weapon 1 and 2, holding alt and either button wields my pistol.
  • Very nice video. Not one I need in particular, but for beginners, this is really something to think about. I cannot stress enough the importance of experimenting with keybindings and sensitivity. If someone wants a very in depth explanation of sensitivity, there are probably better videos, but personally, I simply mess with in game sense than worrying about DPI and such. On keyboard settings, honestly, I recommend considering moving your movement keys to TFGH. I love being in a more central space on the keyboard so I'm not flying all the way to the other side of my keys where it takes more time to return to movement. Also, this allows me to use my little finger for other tasks, such as S for PTT, X for sprint, and Z for prone. I have a logitech G502, which I have LCTL, RALT, RENTR, and RCTL bound to extra buttons. one is for interacting, another for crouch (I always like having crouch under my thumb for better control over it in any game, and LCTL acts as a modifier for other keys such as having M be for both map and expand minimap. J is to reload, N is to switch to primary close range weapons, and LCTL - N is for secondary, long range weapons, though I usually use scroll for this anyway. 4 is for grenades and 5 is pistol. TLDR I have a pretty odd setup, but it really is what seems to be best for me. That being said, I strongly advise people spend time in practice mode testing different setups and sensitivities. Freedom with input is one of the best parts about PC shooters and not utilizing it puts yourself at a huge disadvantage. My biggest complaint is that PUBG doesn't warn you at all about conflicts while you're binding. In Arma 3 it always shows a clear message if you mess up, but with pubg it expects you to remember all the time :/ Anyway, thanks for the video and looking forward to more! I recommend your series to a lot of people and seeing you continue to give tips is great. You do some of the best videos giving tips in my opinion. My personal favorite is the one about tilt, as well as ones about your mindset when playing, such as how to improve and hot dropping. The tilt video really made me think about my attitude when playing.

  • Dude I found your videos from Reddit and am now watching all of them. You need more credit for these high quality videos.
  • @coza10
what DPI are you on? you should mention this since is completely changes your sensitivity.
  • @lingsang1195
Sir even at low sensitivity how are you able to Track enemies soo properly ? What is was your mouse dpi ?
  • Yes, someone else who uses the thumb buttons for leaning. I approve 😎👍
