Just FYI, the timer wasn't Mechamaru's lifespan exactly, it was the amount of cursed energy he had saved up while he was trapped in the tub. He had 17 or so years of CE saved up, that's what he was using to power his mech.

tbh part of why earthworm man is so special to Yuji is because it was something him and Junpei shared an interest in before Mahito... Mahitoed. Also, its literally part of how he learned cursed energy and its part of how he became a competent jujutsu sorcerer so like it means a lot to him :3

There's a huge difference between resolving the issue in Shibuya, and saving everyone in Shibuya.

I think Mechamaru booting up after Gojo being sealed is a Binding Vow. Once he wakes up to another gadget, he will help the jujutsu sorcerers to retrieve Gojo from that brain. He's also playing 4D chess as well against Getwo. After all, he truly wanted to personally meet Kyoto high students and free from being stuck in a physically fragile body.
