There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them.

I am 62 and have tears in my eyes as I listen to this .... remembering back to a different time, a time of my youth. Everything back then was new and exciting. I had energy enough to light New York at night. Life was fun, going out was an experience, and life was full of promise. I was young, good looking, and ready to face the world. ............. I miss those days ............

I was 9 when this song came out in 1982. I heard it in the grocery store today, and it certainly took me right back to the early ‘80s again. Life was so, so simple back then. I didn’t know it, but my career in computers was about to begin with a Commodore 64 in the wings. Roller rinks, arcades, bowling, hanging with friends in real life for hours till dark…and amazing music like this. I hope kids reading this can enjoy some of that spirit through this song. It’s not easy, but put down the phone and just enjoy the sights and sounds of life and the world around you…time flies!!

The line “We are young but getting old before our time”.. hits hard!!

As a black kid growing up in the projects of VA I was probably the only one watching MTV on a regular basis, this song just spoke to me of something better out there in the world..one of my all time favorites.

I was eleven years old when this came out and as a black man of fifty one,I still love it. If a song connects with me I don’t care who it’s by or what colour the artist is or was. A great track is a great track if you feeling it,granted I like so genres more than others but still won’t stop me listening or appreciating good music from artists that are a outside my usual sphere. It’s what is so great about music,the discovery of a track or group that really grabs you,even if it’s not what you are expected to like.Peace and love my to all the music lovers,it will always see us through ❤️🙏🏾👊🏾

Ps Joe Jackson came into the Marriott hotel I worked at in Golden, CO and asked to use our piano prior to his concert/what a fucking phenomenal moment🎶

The 80’s were so fun and carefree. Man I miss it.

I will never forget the October Monday morning in '82 where it was the day of one of my friends' funeral. This song was on my clock radio as I was waking up and I was just so in tears. It was a friend who really touched my life and gave me the appreciation for humor. His legacy will always live on and every time I hear this song it brings me back to that day and the fact that life is truly short.

Always will remind me of my mum..even at 80 before passing june 2020 and suffering from Dementia, This was the last CD I bought her for her 80th birthday, she would play it full blast and come alive from the shell she was trapped in Iris 10/12/1939 -28/6/2020

It's impossible to not completely love this song. Loved it as a kid, loved it as a teen, and I love it now. Timeless!

I was 20 yrs old when this song came out. Remember watching this video on mtv many times. Back when you could sit and watch mtv for hours. It was always on in the background when you had friends over or just doing stuff around the house. Man, I miss those times. Young, full of energy, mtv playing in the background while you were getting ready to go out on the town with your friends.

I know Joe Jackson was not thrilled about making a video for this song, but the result is so iconic. Very few have captured the vibe of the 1980s NYC high-life quite like this. Nostalgia to the nth degree

I met a guy in 1982 and he played this album - and 40 years later we are still happily together.

When i hear this song i am suddenly 40 years younger with my whole life in front of me ......make me got tears in me eyes .
