A.T. Smith, former Secret Service deputy director and CBS News national security contributor, tells "Face the Nation" that sources told him the agency had an "adequate amount of time" to prepare for former President Donald Trump's rally, while former Homeland Security official and CBS News national security contributor Sam Vinograd notes the importance of being "as transparent as possible" as conspiracy theories have begun to pop up online.

"Face the Nation" is America's premier Sunday morning public affairs program. The broadcast is one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television, having debuted Nov. 7, 1954, on CBS. Every Sunday, "Face the Nation" moderator and CBS News senior foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan welcomes leaders, newsmakers, and experts to a lively round table discussion of current events and the latest news.

If we were in a heighten state why was a roof top left unsecured?
  • @Fgji230
Who draws a security perimeter. And leaves Trump wide open. Only 150 yards away from an elevated unsecured rooftop.

The lady agents fumbling trying to re-holster is quite the DEI spectacle
  • When I hear that security is now at a heightened awareness, it suggests they were less than 100% aware! Maybe this will "Tone down" the hateful rhetoric? Probably not.
  • Intelligence and Law Enforcement are two words that don't go through at all.

That's 7 minutes of wasted time I won't get back. Wiki: "Face the Nation is one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television." This segment did not live up to that billing.
  • If he has no criminal background or non by the police.. how did they find his identity through his dna ?
