Revelation 13:16-17 (King James Version KJV) 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. The question is more about being able to BUY or SELL (while I take most things in the Bible as a metaphor - this part seems harder to find a metaphor about). Secondly -- it seems (IMHO) less important what the actual number is rather than ANY situation preventing or requiring a Mark (in order to BUY or SELL). Also ANY mark is a branding, and a branding is something ANY free individual would refuse -- only animals (and machines) i.e. beasts, take MARKS (or get branded). (you kinda said a similar thing midway) Edit : after thinking about it a bit, the not Buying nor Selling (regardless of any mark etc.) tells me of a sense of "Total Control" (e.g. a cashless economy, i.e. digital only) -- it also reminds me of an inquisition, kind of reminds me of the book of Daniel Chapter 6 also.

This is what I have, it may right or wrong, but after years of hearing many accounts and reading material, these are things I've uncovered. The reason why "666" was used was because the dark forces took the divine number "999" and simply turned it upside down. What John saw was a series of 3 symbols, not a number. "666" breaks down in Gematria as: 600 = Self Love, 60 = Divine fire stolen from the heights (celestial/heaven), 6 = Brotherly Love solely for the benefit of oneself. The "number" is meant to signify the highest significance of deifying the self. Also, the reason why it appears to be speaking of "Nero Caesar" is because the bible is speaking in symbol and allegory, not literally, and through gematria, people are trying to arrive at a leader in the past as the antichrist. It is speaking of a pattern, a political system which follows a particular modus operandi. What "John" saw were 3 different symbols of political systems resembling those of Nazism, Islam, and Communism. Some scholars saw this as a statement of "In the Name of Allah", the symbols were drawn in the Codex Vaticanus. The word for the "Beast" can also mean "multitude" from the original Greek. Jesus has appeared to many and told them outright that Barack Obama was the "Beast"/Antichrist, but we know many times this could be a false 'christ' giving false information (?You can't know for certain?). In hebrew, "Barak Hussein O'bama" means "Divine fire stolen from the heights". The facts surrounding this person could of course be somewhat different, though I've personally heard things about him that make one believe he is nothing but evil (what do I know?). "Revelation" moves through four seasons, four signs of the zodiac, Taurus, Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio. It is an "astrotheological' book. Again, it is speaking in symbol, and referring to the evolution of the individual soul toward it's union with "christ consciousness" or the divine mind. This fits into a time frame of 1,260 days of completion: "time, times, and half a time". Obama is also to this day working behind the scenes. We're simply not aware of this.
