In this series, we look at the characters behind the Marvel Snap cards, recapping their origin, their powers, looking at how well they fit their card, and giving you something to read.

In this video we focus on debatably the most popular Eternal, Sersi.

Comic Sersei is like, Amora the Enchantress, but good, and MCU Sersei is like, benevolent goddess who walks among us. What I find kinda funny is that before the movie, Sersei's modern art looked kinda like Rosario Dawson.... With Crystal of the Inhuman Royal Family hair. No mention of the third most famous Cersei/Sersei, Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones.

Comics Sersi is a fun feisty character. The MCU version was really watered down though Gemma Chan did her best.

That title is literally all I could think of when my husband asked who Sersi is. "Uhhh, she joined the Avengers?"

I know that line-up of the Avengers she and Black Knight were on is far from the best or most popular, but I have a soft spot for it as that was who the line-up was when I started getting into the title.
  • Insert obligatory comment about how mind-boggling it is that ikaris isn’t in this season

Sersi as a card is amazing btw. I played a pretty basic progression for the deck she's in- Electro into Sersi, except I did it on Kamar-Taj, where there was already a squirrel token. I played Odin on turn 6, and by the end Squirrel and Electro had turned into Rock Slide and Legion, and ended up as Orka and Skaar. Every location was Kamar-Taj, my opponent had 6 Rocks in their deck, and a couple other things had happened along the way. It was a bonkers game. Of course to balance that out she's created Modok at least once, and I still don't care. I adore this card.

I really liked the sweeping scope of The Eternals.

He wasn't one of the "official" Eternals but Starfox was on the Avengers first and he's an Eternal from Titan. I think he was a pretty good fit for a while.

12:34 Uh, looks like she stole Crystal's signature hairstyle.
  • I thought the Eternals movie was fine, it had really good points and some pretty bad points. But I do think it would have at least been a little more enjoyable had Sersi had the lighter, more fun attitude she has in the comics. It seemed like Kingo was the only character who didn't mope his way through the whole thing.

She sounds fun as does her card

It says nonliving even in the movie, but you see her making flower petals and turning a Deviant into a tree before the UniMind part of the movie.

Love the card! Just got it. Are you going to make the videos about older cards?

As a big Gaiman fan, I never liked his Eternals run. I liked the movie a lot more than the comic.

The Eternals movie had to do what they did, to make their context within the MCU at least plausible. They probably overdid keeping them mellow for too much of the movie, but when you have what are arguably the most powerful superbeings in the world, you have to explain why the heroes we know never encountered them and why they didn't help save the world/universe in the big universe destruction story you just told.

11:36 In Bloodties Dane somehow recalls he already met Exodus, but he can't remember exactly when, nor who exactly he is. I never understood why, since the story ended without that bit was explained, so...

Man, Kirby’s eighth pass at the New Gods is…tough to care about
