You're the first person I think I've ever heard that repaints the caps to get a true color representation of the paint inside. Nice tip, I'll have to use it myself.
  • @qmoor
I would like to see a video of you trying the Vallejo Xpress paints next. The dipping ink orange looks great for a dirty T-shirt.
  • @itsio7188
I too enjoy that runic color blue. The Citadel, I think, needs to be thinned. To be honest I think all should be thinned.
  • @OctopusPrime3
I would like to see vallejo xpress. They seem to be slightly fainter than Speedpaint and Contrast, but darker than GSW dipping inks (without the cracking). Also supposed to be as consistent as Speedpaint.

Nice video - I need to play with this slap chop method. As an American it’s hilarious to hear you use “well” as a sentence break so often.
  • I like Army Painter speed paint the most, HOWEVER, for this kind of comparison, I’d have preferred the same model be painted. Then again, while I use speed paints, I don’t like slap the chop method. Even the top tier painters seem to have an obviously grey undertone rather than a darker color.

"I've never spilt a pot" Well I hope that Gork and Mork don't decide to mess with you over that comment! Great video thank you for sharing!

Never thought I'd be saying the Army Painter Paint looked best.
  • If there is a color of speed paint you prefer they do make a ‘speedpaint medium’ you can use to then it down and have more control! Always enjoy your videos! Cheers!
  • @Treaclebasket
Lovely paint jobs on all of the miniatures. While I appreciate your enjoyment of the way the dipping inks feel as you apply them, I'd have to say I much preferred the overall finished look of the speed paints one. Great video though, and lovely printed greenskins!

Great video! Love the The Army Painter for Speed painting.
  • @zakhunt
Nice video! I'd love to see some experimentation with different primer/undercoat colors before the drybrush step. Black looks ok as a shadow color for some stuff, but with many colors it just doesn't look right. I'd love to see if something like a brown, deep purple, dark blue, etc would work better. I keep meaning to try it myself but I don't get much time at the painting desk lately. Thanks!
  • @MrAndyPuppy
I think to be completely honest, you're right that you are going to be best off by mix and matching. I really dislike the way some of the dipping inks turned out on this orc, but love others. Same with the other two.

Trying my hand at painting again last night (havent painted a figure in 15 years) Spray primer with Citadel Black. Then thought to use SpeedPaint GraveLord Grey and Blinding White to try slapchop. Found the grey to be almost black and no discernible effect. So used the white for the drybrushing. Its more like a pale grey on the models (and my fingers) The models look mostly OK (a few got too much or too little paint) But Im going to buy AK paints bright white to add some white drybrushing before adding speedpaints and/or contrast paints. might try a different size drybrush when I start another batch.

This is the video that o finally subscribed on. I will definitely get into slapchop even though i have bad experience with GSW inks, once i almost ruined my necron overlord when i tried to wash his gold painted cape with Ancient Sepia and it dried all wierd and blochy and uneven. But Army Painter paints do look tempting to get back into slapchop
  • @JRMcDowell
I have watched a bunch of these type of reviews, and I think you have done one of the better ones if not the best one. Great video!

Speedpaint and Dipping ink had some real winners here. GSW Acid Green has recently been my go to for Ork skin, but that AP Charming Chartreuse looks really good as well (may need to grab some to give my boyz some more variety XD). I like both blues for the denim with GSW for new and AP for old washed out looks. The GSW brown also looks really good for leather.
