As the power struggle between China and the US intensifies across Asia, Indonesia faces dramatic threats ranging from Chinese regional domination to a Cold War that could turn hot. At the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, one of Indonesia’s top foreign policy analysts Dewi Fortuna Anwar set out Indonesia’s non-aligned world view to DW’s Richard Walker, explaining how Jakarta has pushed back against Chinese claims in the contested waters around the South China Sea, Indonesia’s response to China’s rejection of international arbitration, and why it is seeking closer military ties with the US at the same time as nurturing strong economic relations with China. And she sets out Jakarta’s fears of being dragged into proxy conflicts as Washington and Beijing limber up for generational battle for global power.

  • @goyasolidar
As the Philippines has proven, dialogue with China is a wasted effort.
  • The Indonesian lady is absolutely right, the only solution to the problem is follow the International law and every nation must have contentment for the resources and enjoy what they have🫰🫰🫰

The Lady really understands and articulates her argument well. This is the quality of the Indonesian people. No wonder Indonesian are doing well. She knows very well aware of what is happening. If only china is friendly to its neighbors. But that is so distant.
  • .... when the wars begins, politicians give ammunition, the rich gave foods and the poor give their children. When the war end politicians shake hands, the rich raise foods price, and the poors look for the grave of their childrens.... ~ Serbian proverb
  • Watch this, you know why Indonesia is the natural leader of ASEAN. Also impressive is that Indonesia insisted on inviting Russia to the last APEC Summit which shows its strategic autonomy and political maturity.

The Root of all this problem is Chinese excessive Greediness

She's very intelligent. Clearly on point. I can just imagine how exciting it would be to be her student in a classroom discussion. She has an extremely free and open mind. A guru.

She's the most well-versed and fluent Indonesian speaker I've heard coming from a country where English is a foreign language. She's truly educated. --- from a Filipino viewer

Professor, Greetings from Switzerland. As Indonesian Diaspora, I am so proud of you, by your intellect, by your mastery of the Issues, and quite frankly by your mastery of English. President elect Prabowo @prabowo should seriously consider you as Foreign Minister in his Administration. Next time you’re in Switzerland, It’d be my privilege to meet you, and I’d like to show you around. Thank you Ibu. Pease be well, be safe, and have a wonderful day.

Indonesia should also take more pro-active roles in ensuring peace in the region.
  • As a Malaysian national, I firmly believe that it is of utmost importance for countries including Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, and Malaysia to assertively uphold our territorial rights in the South China Sea. The proposition of the ‘ten-dash line’ by China is, in my opinion, is simply a ridiculous claim.
