Algorithm Jargon that should be ignored lol:
Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes was a popular comic in the 80s and 90s in the United States of America, and across the world. It's competitors were Garfield and Peanuts (also known as Charlie Brown). They sold a lot of merchandise, you can buy them today like on websites like amazon, instagram, youtube, etsy. There have even been Garfield movies, tv shows, and video games. Newspaper comics were very trendy back then. You know what else is trending? Tiktok, Presidential debate, comments, pop culture, trump, biden, trends, subscribers, music. Thank you to the subscriber and viewers (who shouldn’t be reading this 😡

In general I love the extreme chasm between Calvin and Hobbes and Garfield. Even when you don’t talk about just comics, Calvin and Hobbes is known as an example of NEVER selling out — and Garfield as an example of just how far you can squeeze an IP
  • I literally never noticed how little Calvine and Hobbes merch there is, but it was definitally my intro to comics in general

just remembered that my mom couldn't find a hobbes plush for me since i was calvin for halloween once, so she made one herself cool mom for sure, but interesting to think about as an adult now, bill watterson highkey the GOAT
  • I feel like I’m unearthing an ancient piece of history that was forgotten.

When I was a kid we still got the newspaper. And my favorite strip was "Hagar the Horrible." I just really liked the tongue and cheek humor.
  • I was VERY surprised to see two whole photos of Watterson I had never seen before.

Here before this blows up. If there’s a spark in a YouTuber, it’s here. Keep up the good work, plan on watching another
  • I am pretty young, born after CaH was finished. But I definitely have upmost reprect for the author exactly for the reason that I never saw merch of it. I basically got accustomed to it through the comics itself, whereas in case of other comics it was usually merch, and it really did affect the way I think about it: not like as a mascot like Garfield but as genuenly funny work. So author had the right call to avoid merch as much as possible. Also, good video :D

Thank goodness he didn't say no to reprints of the strips.
  • if I can make 1 suggestion for the thumbnail, I almost didn't click because I thought this was a garfield related video, but the calvin and hobbes image might be a bit too small and not centered enough, and it's not in the title
