Absolutely hate how the opening line could be mistaken for current events a decade later.
  • @HLBear
HBO, please put the original air date in the description. ⭐️
  • Ten years ago, they were talking about war in Ukraine and Gaza. Some things never change
  • @mntking22
"Ukraine is sliding in to anarchy, the Gaza ceasefire is tenuous ..." WHAT YEAR IS IT?!
  • @harleyk101
Who else has HBO Max but watches all these on YouTube?
  • @chenzenzo
Had to double check since Jon looks younger and then remembered that they're releasing the full library here. Excellent!
  • Former USAF nuclear weapons technician, here. I think about them all the time. People are clueless as to their power and lasting effects. And if you think we're doing a poor job of maintaining them; you should see how Russia operates.

"Ukraine is sliding into anarchy, the Gaza ceasefire is tenuous..." Oh, this is old.
  • He started talking about war in Gaza I thought this was recent, then I realized it could be anytime in human history

My father's best friend died in an explosion in Germany in the 80s from a Pershing missile. Thank God it wasn't armed and thank God for that man he saved lots of life's that day including my father's since he closed the blast doors containing the explosion......I've always wondered if Germany knows they almost had a nuclear explosion in their country? No matter if bases are considered American territory since the fallout doesn't stay in boundary lines.

The one welcome throws me off now 😅 I keep expecting three welcomes 😂 Edit: I really appreciate you guys deciding to make your old episodes free and available on youtube! 💕🎉

And this is why Professor/Physicist Brian Cox has made the comment that people's biggest fear should not be war, but stupidity. Great show John!!!!!!
  • @KiwiBeeArt
I know John wont see this but id love to hear his thoughts on how the topics he covered 10 years ago are still relevant. I know its not just me but its incredibly discouraging that it feel like nothing changes, that it feels like a miracle that his show exists at all with corporate consolidation and silencing of journalists, it feels like no matter how much I may want change, in another 20 years Columbia will be silencing another humanitarian protest :c

Interesting to see how a decade ago, both Gaza and Ukrain are headline news at the same time... Wild.

using obsolete tech like big floppies is actually a security feature now... nobody can hack them without being physically on site.
  • @Lil-Britches
S1 Ep12 ya don't say, the Black Hair and lack of stress said entirely enough 😂
  • @coolphoton1234
One thing to note: they still use the old style computers on purpose. The tech is so old its incompatible with modern systems, meaning its all but impossible to hack, and they require physical access to specific data disks In fact, 5' flopy disks are the most advanced. Most use punch cards.

That guy 100% still thinks those two are from India. Totally over his head lol.
