Scotland’s Northern Lights | Mountain top Aurora show

Published 2023-12-20
Sometimes things happen for a reason and I was on Plan C when something very special happened. It was also a penultimate trip to one of Scotland's most remote mountains and one I had yet to visit. A trip I wont forget anytime soon....

  • Thanks for all the wonderful comments , I often get asked about what gear I use on the longer treks - here's a video with my back packing gear list Gearlist - https://youtu.be/foLoHAlNPbY?si=5DaqVkU_iOrz18Kv I may not get round to answering all of your comment but I really appreciate them all. Thanks for watching Murray
  • You Sir - are a Scottish Legend. Thank you for showing the World our beautiful Country
  • Can’t resist another comment , Murray. The sight of the aurora over the Strathfarrer4 with moonlit mountains to the south. So beautiful , so moving. Thanks again for these inspiring scenes, from an 81 year old munroist. 4050.

No need for tv programs when stuff like this available. Brilliant, just brilliant 👍
  • @joanhuggett5164
What a magnificent film! I wonder if you know just how special this is for us Aussies who live in a hot, brown, dusty land most of the time. It is quite wonderful to have such a lovely man bring his world to us time and time again. Saying thank you seems so inadequate but I do thank you, Murray, over and over.
  • @TheSewingHub
Husband doesn't normally watch you with me but he did, he's a fisherman and fished all the lochs you cover through your adventures he was really taken down a memory lane trip I thank you for this because he's lucky to be alive after suffering from heart problems since COVID he can't fish any more. So thank you and best wishes

I don't think that there are enough superlatives in the English language (or any other language) for this one, Murray. I was looking forward to this video, and it surpassed all expectations. Simply jaw-dropping, once again. Thank you for putting so much effort and time in filming and editing your adventures on the Scottish mountains, it's greatly appreciated - that Aurora display is your just reward 🙂Merry Christmas to you and your family!
  • Well that beats anything I’ll watch over the Xmas period. One of your best vlogs yet, absolutely amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing!

Making a second comment having just watched it again this evening with family who were blown away by the Northern Lights. "Tell Murray we are real happy for him, it was a wonderful capture, really spectacular. After all the trouble he goes to, to have this happen is fabulous."
  • I’ve said this before Murray but you are simply the best at portraying Scotlands mountains in all their glory. The quality of your filming, editing and commentary are nothing short of brilliant. I’m always amazed how you find time to set your camera retrace your steps and then film yourself walking towards it or away from it. Not many YouTubers do that. It must take an enormous amount of time. Your live commentary is always fluent informative and interesting. And then the time editing and stitching it all together. To quote you, “absolutely fantastic “ Have a great Xmas and look forward to seeing more videos next year.

I feel sorry for those people who have yet to discover your channel Murray, just superb. 👍
  • Brilliant, Murray, Brilliant! My wife and I watch your videos from the Low Country of South Carolina, I look out the window, I see the marshes, I look at my TV screen and see the aurora! Like the guys below who write from Australia the difference could not be any greater!! Wonderful stuff and as to the comment about luck, we always say it's where opportunity meets preparation and you my friend are always well prepared :)
  • @SamTex69
Wow! One of your best so far, if not the best. Thanks for taking us on this epic trip!

Easily the best thing I've watched on YouTube this year, thanks for doing plan C! And carrying all the kit and capturing it from high before bagging your penultimate Munro 🎉

  • @kevinw1129
Those northern lights were spectacular. You’re living proof that if you get out enough the chances of bagging something special are guaranteed! 👏👏
  • @Craig-MItchell
Some quality drone tracking shots in the calm early on 😎 Fabulous Norther Lights in braw bricht moonlicht nicht 🌕 Fair play to you for going with the flow and taking advantage of what the gods offered 👍🏻 Good luck 🍀

If you had made this with the support of a professional filming crew it would be a great piece of work. The fact you made (and also edited) this remarkable film completely solo makes it truly outstanding! If YouTube awarded Oscars...
