Psychiatric problems in children is a neglected field all over the world, and especially in India. By and large , people are not even aware of the causes and manifestations of psychiatric problems in children, leave alone addressing them. Here is a short film depicting a touching story of a child , being raised by a divorcee mother. How she and her ex husband put their interests and egos before the boy's welfare and how the whole episode at the birthday party leads to a severe psychological trauma to the boy is shown in the film.
Dr Indrajit Thopte is a paediatrician practicing in the UK. he has founded an organisation that works for raising awareness about this problem.
Dr Shekhar Kulkarni is a cancer surgeon and an actor/director/musician.
These two doctors have come together for this cause . This film is one of their creations to create awareness amongst people about the children psychology

A very good effort to make a film on children of divorced parents.Whoever is responsible ultimately the children are the sufferers.

Behind almost every divorce is the ego clash between adults, with children being sandwiched between them. Child psychology is not celebrating birthdays and receiving and giving of gifts, but much more than these materialistic doings. As plant requires good nourisment during initial phase, children require just one thing -- love of both parents. Here the mother is shown never to understand Aarav's psychology and needs. As Dada Ji correctly said, nowadays, divorce is just like pressing the 'Delete' button. Timely outcome with superb performances, with Dr. Agashe once again dominating the script.

Very touching movie. Children r very sensitive. They love & miss their friends. They miss the loving space at home. They feel so insecure & sad, if there r always fights in the house. They tend to become loners also & they seem misfit in the surrounding also. Home is the only place in the world, wherevu can live without fear, .
  • Highly appreciating your efforts to make some heartless selfish people understand that children are individual humans and not anyone's property to deal in his / her desired ways.

A really moving portrayal of the crushing impact adult/parental conflict (indeed any conflict) can have on the sensitive psyche of a child. The simple message it communicates about the importance of putting children's needs first is a universal truth which sadly often gets forgotten in the world we live in today.

Nice to see Dr. Thopte paraphrase the dilemma of all the children who are victims of parental conflict at an early age and the consequent emotional impact on their nascent psyche. I would've been happier if he had also said something about the condescending behaviour of Aarav's mother towards her domestic help's young daughter/sister when she refused to give her a return gift in the presence of her child ... Children learn by what they see! Isn't it a bit ironical that while she addresses someone as Rickshaw Uncle thereby inculcating a sense of respect in her child for those who are lower down the socio-economic hierarchy, she doesn't display the same feelings for the little girl who had come to help her out with the arrangements. Let us learn to respect those who make our lives easier for us; it doesn't cost anything!!

The earlier system was good, the ladies stayed at home and the men went to work, so the children were also taken care of and everything went smoothly.

Though I'm a practising lawyer, I always advise my clients to think and re-think over their marital issues and if they could be resolved to some extent and also fogiven to some extent, because life is not as rosy as some think even after divorce. Of course some issues are such that Divorce is inevitable. If a couple has children, then the issue is much more complicated. Many a times it's observed that children from broken homes find it difficult to adjust in their lives. Great family support by other members of family helps in such situations.
