  • To be honest, genshin being boycotted by everyone happens very often because it's not the first time it happens, which makes me think why do people try so hard? ,because with hoyo, they will rarely pay attention to it
  • Its funny how nobody on hoyo x community mentioned "stop playing the game" cuz playing the game still counts as contributions for the company, the boycott wont even work even if your F2P
  • I think they'd have a heart attack if they learned about the fate series
  • If boycotting it would change genshin, it wouldn’t have happened 100 times now
  • Im like 99.9999999999% sure this is gonna just blow over
  • Ngl sumeru already showed that hoyo doesn't really care cuz its gonna sell well anyways Edit: Looking at all of these 'boycotts' just further proves that both hoyo and the majority of the fanbase really don't care. The 3 pull drama was way larger than this and sales have barely been affected after that. As long as they make money they won't change anything.
  • This is the 100th time genshin is getting boycotted and at this point people should know that whatever boycotting happens genshin will never change
  • Only thing German about Mondstadt is it’s name. It’s more general european.
  • Mihoyo's CEO has survived an assassination attempt do these people think that he's afraid of Twitter?
  • I think it wont change anything since most people are casual and dont know about what is based on what or dont care about it and pull for they want, and also people usually give up on the boycott like they did with sumeru
  • Honestly this boycott is gonna go nowhere lol Hoyo ain’t gonna give two 💩’s

I'm Latino, I find people complaining about it are full of bullshit and hope these people do stop playing the game.

It's kind of funny how these people that care so much about an "accurate representation" of the characters go to twitter and proceed to make a fan art portraying Xilonen (the geo jaguar MILF) as a afro-descendant woman. The name of the character is being taken from an Aztec goddess, so that means it would make more sense to represent her as an indigenous woman (who are not black). Besides, MiHoyo has always given deity names to any character at random. I mean, I've never seen Baal represented as a "japanese" woman with purple hair before, or Barbatos as a drunken femboy bard. Just because it has a deity name, it doesn't mean that they will make them look like the traditional representation of such; they will just make them look like a generic anime character (like literaly every genshin character). The only aspects of real-life culture that they include in the game are buildings, landscapes, food, names and sometimes clothing. The people itself... Not so much. Like I said, they all look pretty much the same. And Natlan is just a region which is gonna include aspects of a lot of (very different) places, like Hawaii, Australia, Africa and Latin America. I don't understand why these people insist on making them all black, like I see in their "accurrate" and "realistic" fan arts.
  • "Stop cultural appropriation" is incredibly arrogant, as if the so-called freedom fighters are the ones who have lived on that land for thousands of years.

Only Chasca and Citlali are mostly white. The rest of them are a light shade of tan. And mind you, the actual shade of white in Genshin are the gosh damn pale skin tone we commonly see throughout the game.
  • A counterpoint to this entire thing. If you look at all of the Genshin characters, aside from a few pretty much ALL of the characters are white regardless of region. Liyue characters like Chonyun, Shenhe, Ninguan and Inazuma characters like Kazuha, Chiori, and Yoimiya are all just as white as Navia, Jean and any other Mondstadt/Fontaine character. For Hoyo, skin color is not important to depicting culture but rather things like local cuisine and architecture. Any color based argument for Natlan or Sumeru can also be applied to Inazuma and Liyue but you don't see those people arguing for those regions do you?
  • Ok but like as someone who is of African American descent (half) I will say some people are definitely really pale for the region they are in. But at the same time I don’t really care. I think they did a good job at representing the look, and the skin tone just didn’t really follow. It’s just kind of stupid to hate on genshin for something they’ve not done so many times. Like ok, people have good reason not to be happy with the characters completion, but like really? In my opinion the characters look great as is, and the region looks like a good time, that’s all that matters to me.
  • While I absolutely understand and even agree that Genshin could stand to have more diversity, I think a lot of people don't fully understand just how much influence and interest the Chinese gov has in how at least the playable characters are portrayed. Mainly because of how global Genshin is. It's not nearly as simple as saying "just make them more diverse" like it would be in the west where the gov doesn't have such influence in video game development.

I'm upset that hoyo is doing this. But this whole boycott thing is getting out of hand. Im a small tiktok creator with around 100 followers and I'm not up to date with the genshin community cause I just post my little vids an get off. Today I posted how I bought a welkin to try to get nilou and my phone IMMEDIATELY BLEW UP with comments such as "Hello the boycott!? " And I was confused because as I said I just post and get off so I asked "what boycott? " and I immediately got called "racist" and to not act dumb. But I genuinely did not know. At the end of the day this is hoyos fault, cause they know what their doing, and I support the fact that people are holding hoyo accountable, But I HATE it when people go attack people that probably don't know what is going on.
  • Twitter is still gonna be Twitter. This isn’t gonna change anything I don’t play it, but the art sound does look pretty cool. This boy is not going to change a damn thing. These people are hypocrites and they’re just seeking attention.
