  • In the novel Jenny died from Hep-c and in the movie per Roth, complications from AIDS. First AIDS cases were identified in June 1981, Hep-C was identified in 1989. Jenny died March 1982.
  • John Travolta?? He is NOT a Forrest Gump type! Wow, that’s scary! Soo happy Tom Hanks was cast. Love him and the movie. 🩵

One of my top three favorite movies. I'm not a crier but when Forrest is talking to Jenny and finds out that they have a kid and he's asking if it's like..... him? .....I LOSE IT EVERYTIME. ❤ And of course Tom Hanks is the best actor of our time. At the time I was astounded that they found an actor without a limb that could play Lieutenant Dan so well...of course it was CGI with Gary Sinise being another great actor!
  • Forrest Gump was partly made in Flagstaff Az. That was so cool . I used to walk up San Francisco Street all the time. Another memory was my daughter’s teacher was in the running scene.

We watch this movie every year. It reminds us of a simple time and of kindness with no expectations of return kindness.
  • I would like to see a part 2 of Forrest Gump with Tom Hanks and the son in the movie, I believe it will a hit!
  • @KENICUSONE
Forrest Gump is the most endearing character in movie history.

What about Forrest's son and actor casting? He of course is an amazing actor.
  • didn't mention that the runner for much of those scenes was Hank's brother.
  • This is the best movie ever I’ve watched it about ten times and it’s still great
  • I love Tom in every film he's ever been in, from BIG, to Castaway, to Forest Gump, and The Green Mile. He was great in all of them.
  • Amazing clip! I do not watch movies, but the soundtrack led me to this movie years ago. Think I've watched it at least 3 or 4 times. Great movie, great script, great emotions..... Love it still

save your time: Jenny dies of Hepatitis C in the second book, while she dies of AIDS in the movies, even though it was only implied. Notably, Hepatitis C was discovered in 1989, which is why the doctors could do little for Jenny in the '80s.

Wonderful information about such an iconic film!
  • Gary Sinise as Lieutenant Dan was wonderful. Loved him, so many memorable scenes. Timing was perfect
