In this video we continue the progress on the NBS Silverado Single cab Dually build. The stock 4x6 rear speakers are old and blown up. The stock head unit doesn't put out enough power to make it sound good. We are going to install all new speakers, sub wiring from kicker and a pioneer head unit. I also will be using a pac wiring harness to make it a plug and play switch. The new Pioneer radio and speakers sound so much better than the stock stuff. It is worth the upgrade if you have an older silverado. I also wanted to add some sound deadening in the cab. The older silverado and sierra trucks are not quite and this will help with road noise and speaker performance. This truck is slowly turning out nice. I look forward to getting more things added, fixed and upgraded. Now get out there and upgrade your speakers and radio in your nbs silverado or sierra! I went a little above and beyond and after I did the killmat I also put aluminum closed cell foam 1/8” on the back side of the panels before reinstalling them for radiant barrier. Lots of trimming and some stuff fit tight but it helped a lot for my AC. I could keep it on low as I can’t stand it blowing at max. South Texas hits 106 often and AC systems only typically lower ambient temps by 25* so that’s still in the 80’s

I’m also looking into sound deadening my single cab just waiting on my new carpet so I can do everything all at once

Replace the cab vents. Keeps the dust out better and quieter

way back in 2006 I put Boston Acoustics 5 and 1/4 inch speakers in the back of my RCSB Sierra. I had to cut a little metal but not much.

not sure if you have see the Scosche PowerVolt Dash Port (cigarette lighter replacement with usb passthru to radio and usb c charger), but it looks super nice in the 03+ Trucks/Yukons instead of the exposed lighter socket.
  • I always take a picture of the panel prior to installing my killmat. Then I can reference where the holes are needed for getting the interior popped back in. Also just curious if you can vents were good. Mine were pretty much gonna which allowed dirty and debris into the cab. I’m sure you looked that over though

JL Audio makes a 4" with a plate brother...Pioneer makes a nice set 4×6s and Kicker..

My 08 cab corner vents had no rubber flaps on them and the gaskets were just gooey and leaked water, also my 3rd brake light was cracked and leaking. Resulting in Lake GMC in the back corner of my cab. You might check the condition on those if you have not. Now would be the time to replace those. You have to take a bunch of stuff out to access them in the ext. cab if you don't know (I'm sure you do).

Just a little food for thought I used aluminum tape for AC ducts to cover edges of killmat so it wouldn’t be sticky. Not the tape that looks aluminum the stuff that’s actually aluminum and will cut you. A roller wheel works excellent to flatten it out.
  • @Treyes92
Try Infinity kappas, by far the best 4x6s

I never seen that cover thing in the back before. I never wondered about that random stud in the middle
  • @Johnny_Bee
I need to replace the stock non Bose stereo in my 07 classic, I need to research more about all that wiring
  • @mrf963
You should put a female on the remote turn on. You’ll have a live 12 volts on that unprotected male connector. Great video as always.

The link to the Radio Wiring Harness is wrong.
