In this video we continue the progress on the NBS Silverado Single cab Dually build. The interior is in pretty rough shape. The seat is torn and the carpet is full of sand and dirt. We did attempt to clean the carpet but I decided to order new. In the time it takes to get it I wanted to finish the sound deadening and the stereo wiring. In the last video we added a new Pioneer double din radio and to go with that all new speakers. This truck is big and I wanted to add a back up or reverse camera to the back. It is pretty simple to install but I did have to remove some things to get the wiring in the truck. I show you how this installs in a silverado or sierra truck. We did have to drill a hole in the floor for the power wire to go through. I also found a seat bottom cover on amazon that matches the factory grey or pewter 2003 to 2006 Silverado and Sierra. My upholstery guy is taking care of installing this but we do prep the seat by pulling some things off. Lots of cleaning off camera thats for sure. I really like this project and it's turning out really well. I know you like to glue the plastic trim parts, but in my experience the glue never bonds well enough to interior plastic. I like to use two different types of plastic welders. The first type I use basically looks like a soldering gun, but with an arrow tip. I repair from the backside and basically use the part I'm repairings own plastic to bond itself. In some cases I'll use zip ties as filler rod on the repair. If I need a little strength added to the part I'll embed some stainless steel screen into the plastic to reinforce the repair. The other type of plastic welder I use is the hot staple gun type which works well for long cracks. In either case the smell of the melting plastic can be a bit overpowering so I usually do these repairs outside.

I have a red wolf back up camera that replaces the tail gate trim n it works fine
  • I like the look of the backup camera in the tailgate handle bezel. They’re is a kit/part that holds the camera looks factory.

Last Friday night I installed a Boyo VTL17ir backup camera to the Kenwood radio in my 2007 Avalanche. The Kenwood has a reverse power wire on the back of the radio and a camera input as well, that’s how I hooked it up to the radio. In the back I tapped the trigger wire into the green wire for the reverse light on the driver side and bolted the ground wire to the frame using an existing ground bolt. The hardest part was running the wire along the frame and zip tying the backup camera harness to the existing factory harness on the frame. Now I’m just trying to figure out how to adjust the lines on the screen when the backup camera pops up lol. I may turn them off like you said.
