Mr Vincent refused to compromise on quality and could not continue production. That doesn't happen any more. Holy grail of motorcycles

Great interesting video. And what a beautiful machine. The Vincent is a true icon of British motorcycling and engineering.

My father's friend Percy, who liked to restore bikes and cars and drive them for a while before selling them, called round to go for a pint on his newly restored Vincent. My father wanted to ride it, so off they went with Percy on the back . When they got there and my father got 2 beers, he looked at Percy, who was white as a sheet and his hand was shaking so much he spilled half his beer. My father asked "Are you alright Percy, you look a bit pale?" to which Percy, stuttering wildly replied "You were going a bit fast, John". My father replied "No, I only got 110 out of it, but it will be a bit better when it's run in". Needless to say Percy didn't come round on it again. This occurred about 1956.

All that and we don't even get to hear it run?? I love the way they sound. Like an angry beast with a timely snort between the gnashing growl of the revved upshift ! (I love my Harley) but nothing sounds more beautiful than a Vincent..
  • one of these passed me between pontypool and hafodyrynys one day, bop bop bop he was gone, caught up on my 125 honda 2 up at the lights, some things stick in the memory

Nice one!, great bike ( on my want list). Great commentary!. Nuff said! 🙂
  • Those Girdraulic forks were very strong and the trail could easily be altered to provide much better steering for sidecar work. I had a 1952 model which I rode almost everyday for25 years. Bought in good condition in 1962 for Pds 100 and sold in 1985 for Pds 8 000. oey was used to pay off divorcing wife (she left me) and I bought a Ducati 900SS. Another wonderful bike.

I love Brit bikes, and I love Americans who love them!

the motorcycle is the premier mechanical invention,as far as i'm concerned,a small two wheeled vehicle which can go on a 2000 mile trek and get incredible gas mileage, take one or two upright in the wind and the view goes with saying, this bike is beyond extraordinary, love to put my hand on it and feel the balance lucky lucky lucky
  • @Slash7FPV
What a beauty! Would love to hear here raw sound and see a fast driveby without elevator music ;-)

Richard Thompson wrote a song about a black Vincent. How tragic that British manufacturing all seems to have been killed off.
