Removing the burner from a vintage Canadian GSW Beacon kerosene lantern.

Vintage lanterns often have the burner rusted in place and without knowing how it's supposed to be removed you might damage it. Here, I show how the burner from a common Canadian GSW (General Steel Wares) kerosene lantern is removed. Other lantern brands / models may be removed in a different way though. Embury lanterns are often very difficult.

  • What fuel does it use? I have exact same one (albeit a little rusty)? And are you supposed to be able to free turn the wick dial? Mine seems to stop.
