  • I worked IT for almost 20 years. I feel for ALL of the poor agents having flipped out customers. All the best folks. I hope this is not some kind of "test run"? 🤔
  • Learn: Too many eggs in one basket. Decentralize (& diversify back-up) for resilience. True for all vital systems & infrastructure. 🗺️

Crowdstrike better hope they have good liability insurance. And lawyers.

CrowdStrike’s recent downtime is ironically eroding the financial savings it promises to secure for companies against hackers. Companies invest in security after hearing about others losing millions to cyberattacks, only to face similar operational disruptions themselves. For instance, a company might avoid a $2M hack by using the software, but then suffer greater losses due to downtime—potentially costing more than the original threat they aimed to mitigate.

This denial service attack spreads accross the entire global network the internet affecting any devices with window operating systems including personal home computer. It affected my PC. How can you say that's not a network attack?

I still can't conceive the following points: 1) How were such a widely used product's automatic and manual test processes not able to catch the bug? 2) Don't they adopt canary or blue/green deployment strategies in order to reduce the blast radius in such large roll-outs?
