Density is a measure of the amount of matter present in a given space. In other words, it is a way of quantifying the amount of things that are in a certain place.
Just like in music, where density refers to the number of sound elements present in a composition, density in modern society refers to the amount of information, technology, and people present in our world.

In music, density can be used to create different emotions and atmospheres. For example, a song with low density can have a sense of calm and tranquility, while a song with high density can create a sense of chaos and frenzy.
Similarly, in modern society, density can influence our perception of the world around us. With higher density of information, technology, and people, there may be a feeling of overload and stress, while lower density can create a sense of isolation and disconnection. Additionally, just like in music, where density can be used to create contrasts between sections of a song, density in modern society can be used to highlight the differences between different regions, social groups, and cultures.
Like modern society, music can be also complex and constantly evolving, may be the concept of density can be a useful tool to understand and express the complexity of our world.
In conclusion, density is a powerful metaphor that can relate music and modern society. By understanding and using density in my compositions, I can explore and comment on the complex and ever-evolving aspects of our world.

Patch notes:
This was a live session that I came up with while doing some synchronization tests between my eurorack and other equipment, including Ableton Live. I used the Expert Sleepers ES-9 module as a link interface with my Metric Halo (main interface), and controlled Ableton from my Ableton Push. The movements of my right hand towards the camera were to act on Ableton's pads, which were not visible on camera.
All the percussion elements were previously programmed from Torso T-1, while the rest of the effects seen in the video were 100% from my eurorack. I was able to produce new textures of saturation and movement using Arbhar, which I didn't expect, as well as using Makenoise Morphagene (for the basic piano melody that I recorded earlier), Qubit Nautilus, Data Benber, and Electus versio.

I hope you enjoy the session! In this context, the density metaphor can be related to the complexity and layering of the different elements and effects used in the session. The density of the percussion elements, the dense layering of effects from the eurorack, and the overall density of the sound in the composition all contribute to the atmosphere and emotions that the music evokes. The use of Ableton Live and the Expert Sleepers ES-9 module as a link interface also add to the density of the equipment used in the session, showcasing the modern technological landscape of music production.

P.S: It's important to note that any additional noise, glitch, or variation that might not be perfectly in sync with the rest of the composition was a result of the live session. As an artist, I embrace the unpredictability and spontaneity of live performance, and sometimes the unexpected noises and glitches can add an extra layer of texture and depth to the music. This also ties in with the metaphor of density, as the various elements and imperfections in the composition add to the overall density and complexity of the sound.

Lovely. I always await your premieres with bated breath. You're so prolific in your creations too!
  • A tremendous piece. I cannot imagine how this poured out of you despite you detailing it very reasonably step by step - it seems like only a superhuman could have brought this to life!
  • what an awesome groove..........a sweet little pocket, which in some ways, is really dense', yet still has a calming effects.......because of course - density does not always relate to something being really stimulating. To me, Density is sometimes a way to describe the emotional impact of something, not necessarily the 'kinetic energy'....IMHO - something can be very impactful, intense, and have a sense of density.....even if it is physically calm - like for instance, the emotional density present at a funeral/burial - in some ways very calm and quiet, but emotionally charged...........................oh yeah......and the music and video are amazing.........such a different and well presented approach to much of your other tracks...............love that gl:tchy vibe, and the combination of electronic mixed with the acoustic piano/electric piano bits..........
  • Truly mesmerizing what you are able to create. I just love these glitchy drums and also, like Innesti, said the part around 5:00 is so epic.

Again, I don't even know what to say.. Truly amazing! Loved all the sounds and textures. Drums were so good, and that end part was surprising. I really love this kind of glitchy sound!
