‘Tragic’: NSW government pays $160m to hotels and motels to house those facing homelessness

The Daily Telegraph’s Journalist James Willis says it is “tragic” how the New South Wales government is paying $160 million to hotels and motels to house those who are facing homelessness.

“There’s a range of hotels across Sydney that have commercial agreements with the state government to house people for a night or a week or a month that would otherwise be homeless,” he told Sky News host Steve Price.

“On one hand, yes, it is an outrageous amount of money, but on the other – if it weren’t for this $160 million for motels and hotels, we would have a situation like in San Francisco, lie in other parts of the world where the streets were tragically flooded by homeless people.”

What a joke. Use that money to build actual houses and apartments. And shut the borders until the problem is fixed.

Time for common sense to be tested before getting the right to vote. Clearly we all have the same issue.

So people will just build hotels instead of homes and then get the government to pay for people to live in them
