In 2020, I read the epic novel, “Shõgun” by James Clavell. Enthralled by the engrossing narrative, I composed a suite of music inspired by the characters and dramatic episodes from the story. I present that music to you now in a series of vignettes that are a window into the wondrous world of, “Shõgun.”
Early in the novel, John Blackthorne and his crew are captured and condemned to confinement in a subterranean pit, suspected of piracy. Their rage, horror and suffering is depicted in this vignette.
