In this video I review some framerate patches I've made in the past. I'm mostly talking about patches for PS3 games running on RPCS3 here, but a lot of what I talk about should be broadly applicable to games as a whole.

How many games have you played with framerate patches? What's your favourite game with a framerate patch? Also, I forgot to mention this, but don't use cheat engine in online games. Even if you're not cheating it's a bad idea.
  • Not only RPCS3 is helping the PS3 library to survive, but seeing how the community is working hard to let PS3 games have quality of life updates is absolutely fascinating. Just adding a comment to say 'thank you', your work is really a work of art!

The one game that is absolutely missing a frame rate patch is Okami, which is my favourite game. Apparently the studio that ported it to PC said that unlocking the frame rate was not feasible in that title, so it forever remains capped at 30fps 😔
  • Another whatcookie video? easiest click of the day! I always wondered why the demons souls patch was so verbose compared to some others. Thanks for the detailed explanation! Now to patch some more games...

I tried to play MHFU with a framerate patch, but many animations broke. A forum threads I found suggested every broken animation needed a value manually adjusted and gave up :x

How did I not realize this was the same WhatCookie that did the patch for Drakengard! Thank you so much!

Nice stuff, always wanted more good content on this kind of hacking and I'm happy someone is deliving. I tried unlocking the framerate to 60 on a silly PSP game called Nendoroid Generation once and I pulled it off but the game was at double speed, then I found the float that controlled game speed and halfing that fixed almost everything but the camera animations during attacks, those were still broken. Spent days and days trying to figure it out and I just gave up on it like 3 years ago.
