Over the years we've heard a lot about the Church of Scientology. It's high profile has been bolstered by Hollywood A-listers. But what goes on behind the walls of this religion isn't always glamorous. The church is led by David Miscavige, a man who usually prefers to stay out of the public eye. But now his niece has shone a bright, unwelcome light upon the church and it's behaviour. Jenna Miscavige Hill spent more than 20 years in the church with her uncle. She told her story to Liz Hayes.

This needs to be aired on 60 Minutes in US and every major network.

How can parents not see their children?!? Mind boggling. This young woman must be super centred to be able to have retained her own thoughts and common sense. So glad she is past it!
  • @glowingru
John travolta, Tom Cruise jada picket smith, will smith and any actor supporting this cult should be canceled immediately!!!
  • @tavanium
Go go go 60 minutes Australia! Bringing this to a large audience is a step in the right direction.
  • How anyone could have believed a Sci-Fi writer had come up with a plausible religion is beyond me. It's pure Science Fiction.

Jenna’s book was amazing. I’ve listened to it twice. I cannot fathom how Scientology is legal and considered religion. It’s terrifying.
  • @pamrush5078
Jenna and Dallas are speaking the truth and this cult needs to be shut down

Tom Cruise's behaviour is sickening, he's fully aware of the abuses in scientology.

As an American, I very much appreciate Aussie news.

May accountability come soon to David Miscavige and his goons that this dangerous and ridiculous cult be disbanded. Thank you to 60 minutes Australia and all the brave former members who are speaking out. Bravo! Thank you for your courageous work.

The way they alienate children from thier parents is criminal. It breaks my heart.

What a courageous and strong woman!! I am blown away by her honesty and straightforwardness. She deserves only the highest respect and a life of loving people around her to care for her. She and her husband have freed themselves and are now making it possible for others to do the same, and not even get sucked into this sick cult. Thankyou so much!!!
  • I don't understand how Scientology isn't shut down. This is horrible
  • This young man and woman are just incredibly brave. Thank God she did not take her life. I am glad they broke free. Such strength and love for each other. I wish you well.

They are more of a mafia than a religion. It’s absolutely horrific what they get away with. I’m glad this girl and her husband found their way out.
  • As someone that has been locked in a basement at scientology I can actually vouch for the actions of these.. everything his niece is saying is very true. She's lucky if she didn't get sent the compound. But she was his neice.
