One rainy year the Marshaller waived me across a grass drainage with 3-4” of water in the deepest part of the drainage. I shook my head NO and he wildly waved me forward. I held my position, the marshaller was pissed but I held my ground. I shut down the engine thereby stopping the conga line behind. Finally some kind of supervisor showed up. That’s where we all discovered the marshaller was NOT supposed to bring any aircraft through that flooded area, apparently he got confused about what location he was to be at! There was no possible way I was taking my T210 through a swamp!

I did the exact same thing in one of my videos. Looks like we both learned the same lesson... Glad no damage so happy flying onwards!!
  • Mannnnnn…..I was biting my nails when you were taxiing in that ditch!!! Good thing you didn’t get a legit prop strike!

Enjoyed our chat at OSH, looking forward to reading your first book.
  • You kept the camper setup! Amazing. Glad you didn’t dig a ditch.

The guy at 18:02 running to protect his tent from the prop wash 😏
  • Wow that prop was uncomfortably close to the ground. Glad it didn’t turn out any worse than that

Awesome video. I didn't make it this year to OSH but I have been there twice (2013 and '18). Both times I joined a Cessna mass arrival. Now that we sold the R182 and now have a Piper Turbo Arrow III we might do it again but with a Piper group. Lots of fun camping on the field meeting pilots from all over the place.

My year 1999 Bush Pilot CFI showed me to use about 15 to 20 degrees of flaps on soft field taxiing. It is called Taxi Flaps. They could make some lift and save you from a prop nick or getting stuck like that. He told that to The Missionary Pilot 2 years ago and others in youtube and now is getting popular. After 20 years plus he taught that to me. EmergencyLowManeuvering channel he has. He also taught EFATO 5 Maneuvers.. and more..
