I can’t wait to see you drive the roadster with the puppers going down the road with his ears blowing in the wind. Great job Brent keep it up we love your videos !!! Hello Esther!!!
  • @kammyHS
Brent, for your steering wheel- I have used JBWeld! To repair cracks- it’s sandable and if your repainting your wheel you will never see the repair! And it’s strong! I did it to my ole 52 dodge pilot house pickup and my steering wheel still great! Love your work- love this project and can’t wait to watch you do the upholstery! 👍🏻
  • Thank you Brent for the video. Always good to hear Esther’s input. You’re a great team. Funny as well. Thanks for sharing! 💯❤️👊👍
  • hi Brent...i've repaired a "too big of gap oops" before on pot metal by filling the gap with JB Weld. I'd put masking tape everywhere you don't want the JB Weld to touch on the top frame ends, the rubber behind etc. then bolt the top frame and rubber in place then bolt the bottom half frame and rubber in place and fill the gap with JB Weld. Just make sure you sand the surfaces clean where the JB Weld is going :) a cheap fix....then the next day take it off and sand it flush so it looks mmuuaaa! haha. Or make your own bezel from scratch like you said...peace and thanks again for your videos!

  • Its coming along great Brent. Its also nice to have the Mrs shooting some video and helping out.
  • @JeffreyColford
From what you started with to where you are now......WOW!!! That's both cool and impressive. You have touched every inch of that thing top bottom and in between, color me impressed my friend. Great build, thanks for that.
  • @shloopter30
JB Weld Steelstik will hold it. You can even sand it into shape, especially for casting.

Hi Brent,I second Esther's motion...cast the rear frame in aluminum...step by step 👍😎
  • Casting is super easy and rewarding. I enjoy doing casting myself. I'm sure you will as well. Roadster truck is looking awesome
  • You can shape it with JB Weld to make your mold for the rear window ring. That is what I did in high school, back in the70's . Back when we still had metal shop class. We cast aluminum as well as brass.

A few tips that I hope will help . Clean out the cracks for better adhesion and use epoxy to fill them in and use a clear coat with hardener to make the steering wheel more durable on the final coat 👍 I’ve done this process many times and it works great 😎

  • @laurensmith1828
The truck just gets better and better. Thanks for inspiring.Nicely done!

I have had really good luck using two part epoxy putty for restoring steering wheels. I’ve done 3, and the oldest one (12 years ago) still looks great.
  • I tried reconditioning my 37 dodge wheel, a fail I gave it to Koch in so cal bueatiful work . They did my wheel ,horn cap w chrome ring, & shifter knob. All matching color..
  • @morgansword
If I remember right, you used JB Weld for making cracks and shaping the trim, steering wheel cracks, just a lot of stuff. I seen it used on Kenworth trucks for dash repairs. Since they have sever roads and other bad road conditions.. just cost would stop a feller from using that instead of body puddy fixs
