  • When I was a guard in 1979, the biggest problem we had was when the mess hall staff served hard boiled egg sandwiches to the inmates, but the result was just a lot of noise, no violence. By supper time the troubles were over as the inmates got a standard issue. The things that kept the inmates calm were that the inmates were housed one to a cell, and the fact that the prisoners each had a personal routine that they did not want interrupted. I soon realized that for this reason the inmates preferred order to disorder.

Very good documentary. The narration was excellent. The story line and pictures were spot on. Congratulations to those that put this together.

I’ve lived in NYC for a year and the history is a lot… sing sing has always been of interest to me

Awesome job in expressing the history of such a place. Fremantle prison in Australia (now decommissioned) has a tour of the facilities ranging from Convict era to Modern If interested, be there for Hallowe’en. Admission is well worth every cent spent..👍

Chapin and Lawes showed that reform is possible and if motivated prisoners can assist in their own rehabilitation. It's an old documentary though. It states that capital punishment no longer exists, but it was brought back in the USA years ago. An excellent video, and included a lot of information I was not previously aware of.

The humiliation some people think is okay is something else. The real criminals are the ones that do this to other human beings.

My respect and gratitude to you for your consistency in producing great content always. Because of you I know more about serial killers than I do about taking care of my finances 😂 nuff nuff love coming from Jamaica 🇯🇲

This prison is ideal for hard-core criminals, not for petty offenders😏
  • I lived in Horseheads NY, on Sing Sing Rd. I also drove by Elmira Reformatory on my way to school.

I would like to see interviews from parole and or released inmates from sing sing to get their take on the prison itself. Just a thought. Thank you so much for this video, I found it so interesting I couldn’t stop watching until it was over which makes me a little late in feeding my dog lol.

sacco and vanzetti weren't criminals, they were never implicated in acts of violence, their crime was being anarchists
