While living overseas, Jeff and Callie bought a house online without ever stepping a foot inside. After they moved in, Callie was not too pleased and felt the home was much smaller than it had seemed in pictures. Expecting her first child, Callie feels there is not enough space for their growing family and requires too much work to make it livable. Can this couple love their home with designer Hilary's help, or will real estate agent David be able to find them a forever home?

When a house no longer feels like home, homeowners are left with a big financial and emotional question: renovate or sell it? Love It or List It helps fed-up homeowners decide. In each hour-long episode Realtor David Visentin and designer Hilary Farr compete for the homeowners' final decision to stay or go. David's insider perspective on the real estate market helps target listings to prospective buyers, but Hilary is determined to show homeowners that, within their budget, she can transform their worn-out house into a castle they can love. If the owners decide to list it, Hilary's hard work adds to the home's resale value. It's a tough decision either way. Which choice would you make?

We want, we want, we want but we are not willing to pay.

Those accountants want everything for almost nothing.
  • I’m glad they gave Hilary her own show, because the homeowners overwhelmingly chose to stay in their remodeled home, instead of moving to the ibeautiful homes David found for them. I wish they had more episodes where David wins a little more often! I’m just saying…😌❤️❤️

That finished basement plus the kitchen reno/wall taken out added so much value to their house. More than the 90 K that they put into it. I wish they included the before 🏚 & after 🏡home improvement value that was added after Hilary's improvements. Even if HGTV put this up visually. it would put it into perspective.

Hilary has done a great job, but TBH, I don't understand the order of priority to fully finish the basement and do almost nothing on the main floor. How are a second sitting area and bar more important than kitchen, living room and master bathroom?
  • @lazygardens
Like many of these "problem houses" ... furniture is oversized, not enough thought to storage and traffic flow and clutter control. The houses they are looking at have been decluttered to look as spacious as possible.

Shouldn’t they have done their main kitchen that they will be spending all their time in rather than a second kitchen/bar downstairs which will be rarely used?

Don't hire that accountant again. 😂 This home is completely perfect for an upcoming baby. Love what Hillary has been doing here.

This makeover is fantastic! It's amazing how small changes can totally change a home. Hope you make lots of happy memories in your lovely new space! 🏡

The basement was a home run, I see why the couple decided to Love It. But what was available to purchase was also awesome, especially the pretty bedrooms and nice walk-in closets.

    Love Hilary’s design, always amazing.

Accountants are different from what the real estate business really is. Estimating costs of materials is different from being an accountant. Where did they get the idea that they can do anything that deals with money because they are accountants? They are funny geeks LMAO! 😂😂😂

one day I know one day I will have a finish basement. it looks stunning

This was an obvious choice. Hillary did amazing as usual!

I am pretty territorial in the kitchen and I don't like through-traffic. Your original kitchen was ergonomic for one, and would have been just fine for me. She says bumping bellies in the bathroom like its a bad thing, and he just grins like a goof! I could not share an office space and that laundry room would only make me procrastinate. In the second house that David showed, did anyone else see a problem with the bunk beds right under the ceiling fan? Lovely basement reno, but why two sitting areas and no play space? I would never opt for the wet bar and skip the master reno.
