I think that this channel is a perfect opportunity to do a collab with Safiya considering how much research she has done into the history of fashion.
-
That color survey had so many options I had decision fatigue by the end. It really forced me to go with my gut interpretation
-
Thereβs a whole other set of undertones thatβs missing: Olive!! Olive undertones tend more green/less pinky and donβt really fall into strictly warm, neutral, or cool, because thereβs just too much red in all of them. There are warmer/cooler/neutral olives, but just going by warm/neutral/cool when doing something like looking for foundation for example will make finding an accurate match basically impossible for someone with olive undertones (speaking from experience lol). It also affects what colors look best on you similarly to the other three main undertones!! (For example, olivey-greens and purples are colors that make me feel extra nice because they compliment the green in my skin!)

I really like when MatPat talks about colors and the science behind them, especially in this episode. Iβm color-blind, and I only see black, white and shades of gray, so him talking about colors is really cool to me!
-
I think that next to the "What's your favorite color?" question the questionnaire needs a "Do you have a color your hate irrationally?" Cause I honestly feel like that affects the results even more than your favorite color
-
Honest review of the survey, I think that the background had a significant factor in choosing colors (ones with high contrast backgrounds and muted colors were wholly better than muted colors and backgrounds, vive versa). Whereas when the backgrounds were similar, I was more inclined to choose the clothes that matched with the person.

as someone that dyes their hair very frequently, could you make a video or short on how to find out what hair color suits you best? both natural and unnatural colors!
-
I think that the topics covered here can sorta also help out artists learn to select color palletes that make their characters look better, despite the fact that it probably wasn't the intention of the video. On an unrelated note, maybe Matpat can cover a style theory vid going over some form of fashion in a genre in media like games/movies?
-
I just finished answering the survey. What surprised me the most is how the littlest change in the colour of the clothing or the background made some models look happier than their counterparts with colour being the only difference. Some models even looked gloomy and sick. Did anyone else notice this? Or just me?

Matpat is the only person I trust when it comes to fashion
-
As a guy with fiery orange hair, I've kinda just always accepted that I can't wear anything on the warm half of the color wheel (especially red or yellow), so hair indeed plays a major role in this...
-
13:25 you look better on the left lol

I remember seeing a therapist when I was younger (in the late 90s/early 00s). I was a very emo teen with goth fashion preference. she made me read the season color book and demanded I figure out my colors and try them. Oh, did I mention Iβm color blind.
-
The first thing I thought when I saw Safiyas video was βthis would make a great style theoryβ Iβm so glad you made this!
-
I would really like a theory discussing the color theory a bit more in depth, maybe including the difference between additive and subtractive mixing b/n light and fabrics, and the difference between r/b/y primaries vs. cyan/magenta/y

@matpat I have questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~what makes scrubs so effective doctors and nurses? ~How much can an acrylic nail hold (car, dog, person)? ~what would be the PERFECT shirt for 1. Thanksgiving 2. buffets 3. interviews? ~Does dressing for the job you want actually work? ~Can you feasibly wear what they wear at fashion shows daily? ~You know how anime physics defies reality? What would the clothes have to be made of? ~Do ear muffs work? ~Why do parents tell you to wear socks in the house? ~Old show: Lab Rats. There's this one episode with shoes that can shrink to fit your foot perfectly. Can that be possible? ~Why do vampires wear suits? ~Can you die of corset asfixiation? ~History of boy colors and girl colors. Thanks! Love you guys! (Especially Ash: Hi!)

I feel like my survey answers were more so influenced by which colours I prefer personally than what I thought looked better on that specific personπ
-
So, I mentioned the whole color analysis trend I've noticed on YouTube to my mom. She laughed and dug out a paperfolder with fabric samples and color codes where some were circled as her colors. It was from the 80's. Funny how things moves in circles with fashion (among other things)
-
8:41 That is legit one of the only episodes Iβve been able to remember over the years, I was kinda traumatized by that

I'd love an @Ellie-Jean Royden collab. Shes a stylist youtuber and also talks kibbe body types. She's even developed her own style roots
