Help me
I think I'm falling
In love again
When I get that crazy feeling
I know I'm in trouble again
I'm in trouble
Cause you're a rambler and a gambler
And a sweet taIking ladies man
And you love your lovin'
But not like you love your freedom
Help me
I think I'm falling
In love too fast
It's got me hoping for the future
And worrying about the past
"Cause I've seen some hot hot blazes
Come down to smoke and ash"
We love our lovin'
But not like we love our freedom
Didn't it feel good
We were sitting there talking
Or lying there not talking
Didn't it feel good
You dance with the lady
With the hole in her stocking
Didn't it feel good
Didn't it feel good
Help me
I think I'm falling
In love with you
Are you going to let me go there by myself
That's such a lonely thing to do
Both of us flirting around
Flirting and flirting
Hurting too
We love our lovin'
But not like we love our freedom

  • I was photographing Joni at a concert back in the day when another photographer yelled “smile Joni”, her reply was “you’ll have to catch it when it’s there”. Taught me everything I needed to know about photojournalism and capturing real moments. Such a beautiful and talented woman.
  • I can't believe how lucky I was to be a teenager in the 70's. Thank you God!
  • Still can't believe how lucky I was to, being a Black woman and to have worked at A&M Records in my 20's and to have been turned on to music outside of my normal genre. I love your music, grand dame. You told your story, and we HEARD YOU.
  • June 1974. A few weeks before graduation. A few girls in my class are singing this in the lunch room at JHS 210 in Ozone park Queens! Bell bottoms, flower shirts, marshmallow shoes and Pro Keds! Great to be a teenager in the 70s!

There are some tender souls in this world, and Joni is one.

Joni Mitchell’s Kennedy Center Honors award (presented 12/5/21) was a well-deserved recognition of her decades of musical brilliance and activism. What a beautiful woman…
  • I’m 64 now, in 1977 I was 19, and a hippie, hanging with friends, half were hippie girls, hanging and being close. We cared for each other, the girls dug Joni, and hearing this song now brought it all back home, tear filled eyes as those beautiful days ran away like red horses over the hills✝️✌️✌️Tj. Struska

This song is amazing how it flows and it has a jazzy feel to it but it’s still a pop song. Very sophisticated! Her melodies are like free flowing jazz almost.

The middle of the seventies, hands down the period in which the best music of all time was created.
  • Props to the legendary Larry Carlton, whose guitar work elevated so many artists over his long incredible career.

First time I ever heard Joni Mitchell I was 19 years old hiking the Florida Trail with some friends. We passed through a campground where a solo camper was playing the Blue album on full blast. I was instantly captured and enamoured by the sound. I went up to her and asked, "Who is this??" "Joni Mitchell!" she said, like it was completely obvious. I'd never heard of her. She invited me and the others to her fire and offered up a bottle of cheap red wine, which we accepted gratiously and drank straight from the bottle until it was gone. Andrea, if you ever see this, thank you for introducing me to some of the best music I've ever heard, and for your kindness and hospitality 💓 rock on
  • Joni’s voice washes over you like a cool breeze on a hot summers day!😀
  • This song reminds me of my parents station wagon in the mid 70s. Sitting in the back seat wilth the am radio going and the window down, thinking about what's going on in my life.. at the ripe old age of 9. LOL!!!
  • I remember this playing on the car radio with the windows down (that WAS our air conditioning in the 70s) as my father drove us around the Northern suburbs of Chicago. The wind blasting us in our faces, the light and airy music hitting our ears and our hearts were carefree.......
  • I can't believe how 1000 people gave this a thumbs down....😥 One of the best singer songwriters of our time.

I’m 33 years old and I’m so grateful I was brought up listening to this music from my parents that were musician. Real music, not fake digital crap people make these days.

I worked for over 40 years on the radio. My first job was WFUN, Miami in 1974 and Help Me was at the top of the charts. What a great memory for me.
