  • My father wasn't in my life much growing up. But Nolan Ryan was. Imagine being 11-13 years old and being a Little League pitcher, and Nolan Ryan is your favorite player. Now imagine Nolan and his wife, Ruth are friends, neighbors, you played catch with him, babysit for them. He has been one of the greatest influences of my life. The day he signed the Houston Astros contract and he would no longer be a California Angel is still one of the darkest I can remember. Thank you for leading by example off the field, Nolan, and thank you for allowing me to watch up close the best damn pitcher The Game of Baseball has ever known. And thank you, God!
  • Truly a man's man. I mean I didn't know he was in the Reserves and balancing his pitching career with the duty to the country. Mad respect to him.
  • Nolan Ryan I have so much respect for. Bless with a unbelievable fastball and other pitches to go along with. Humble man just have always loved him.
  • @golfmanfl
Was blessed to see him pitch a 1-hitter in his next start after throwing his 7th no-no. Truly a great who has so many records that will NEVER be broken. Certainly won't ever see a pitcher go 27 years or ever sniff his complete games records.
  • Nolan Ryan, my all time favorite pitcher. Texas legend. Baseball ⚾ Icon
  • In my lifetime (and I didn't get to see Satchel Page), Ryan is the one power pitcher who maintained his dominating stuff longer than any MLB player I have ever seen...excluding those who juiced up (I see you, Clemens). Generating power with those legs and escaping major arm injuries with the help of his clean delivery, good genes, good fortune, and maintaining his fitness...really kept him in the pipe for so long.
  • What a competitor this guy was. I remember being at Veterean’s stadium in Philly the day Pete Rose was about to tie and break Musial’s record of most hits in NL. Nolan Ryan was pitching that day and Pete Rose got the hit that tied the record but after that Ryan struck him out 3 times in a row. He was not going to allow Rose to get his way.
  • I was such a huge Ryan fan by the early 90s, my soon-to-be-wife had to lay down the law and preemptively tell me if we had a son his first and middle names could NOT be Nolan and Ryan. As it turns out my son was named after my dad, so crisis averted. But seriously, I cannot wait to watch this new doc.
  • This man was a workhorse, his off day workouts were legendary. I was at the big A for Nolan Ryan day in the 70's an the pop of his fastball into the mitt just sounded different
  • I’ve been blessed to watch many great players in all sorts of sports and this man is in my top favorites.
  • My son (Southwestern University Junior Pitcher) Ben Ludwig was Nolan's stand-in for camera angles for pitching scenes at Dell Diamond. Nolan wasn't there but it was still a thrill for Ben.
  • I don't care about numbers...he was the greatest pitcher of all time.
  • @baberRuth
Saw his 5K game. Ricky Goes down swinging. Saw his 1st 2 Rangers openers. Lived in Houston.
  • When he sign with the Astros I was really excited and it made baseball worth following for young fan from New Mexico.
  • Nolan's such a badass. No surprise he honored his military obligation.
